XET-TDT is a television station in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, owned and operated by Televisa. The station carries the Canal 5 network. History XET-TV analog channel 6 began broadcasting in 1960, as the first station of Televisión Independiente de México, founded by Bernardo Garza Sada. TIM, backed by Monterrey-area business interests, grew rapidly in the ensuing years, expanding to Mexico City in 1968 and merging with Telesistema Mexicano in 1972 to form Televisa. Televisión Independiente de México (''Independent Mexican Television'', known on air as TIM or Cadena TIM) was a Mexican national television network founded in 1965 by Eugenio Garza Sada. It operated until 1973, when it merged with its primary competitor, Telesistema Mexicano, owned by Emilio Azcárraga Vidaurreta, to form the Televisa conglomerate. 1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. Bernardo Garza Sada
Bernardo Garza Sada (1930 – 7 November 2009) was a Mexican businessman who founded the Grupo ALFA conglomerate in 1974. He also served as ALFA's former president. Additionally, Garza Sada was a member of the company's board of directors for two decades. Garza Sada, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), is credited with turning Grupo Alfa into a diversified conglomerate with revenues of $10.6 billion USD in 2008. Very high frequency (VHF) is the ITU designation for the range of radio frequency electromagnetic waves ( radio waves) from 30 to 300 megahertz (MHz), with corresponding wavelengths of ten meters to one meter.
