Xu Yigua
Xu Yigua (须一瓜) is the pen name of Xu Ping (徐苹; born 1963), a Chinese writer based in Xiamen. She writes news reports for ''Xiamen Evening News'' (厦门晚报; a local newspaper) under the name Xu Ping, and fiction under the name Xu Yigua. She found fame in the early 2000s when her fictions were featured on the covers of prominent national literary magazines, and after her real identity was discovered (to the shock of many Xiamen residents), the catchphrase "Tail-line Reporter, Headline Author" (尾条记者，头条作家) caught on. Xu's work with ''Xiamen Evening News'' gave her extensive experience in the fields of law and government. As a result, most of her fiction deal with crimes. Xiamen ( , ; ), also known as Amoy (, from Hokkien pronunciation ), is a sub-provincial city in southeastern Fujian, People's Republic of China, beside the Taiwan Strait. ''The Dead End'' ( zh, 烈日灼心) is a 2015 Chinese crime drama film based on Xu Yigua's novel ''Sunspot'' ( zh, 太阳黑子). Cao Baoping () is a Chinese film director. He has emerged in recent years as a figure in China's "midrange" cinema industry. Some industry watchers, like ''Variety'', have situated directors like Cao between the older fifth generation directors, such as Chen Kaige or Zhang Yimou, who have achieved major international and box-office success, and the more "underground" sixth generation directors, like Jia Zhangke and Wang Xiaoshuai. Directorial career Cao Baoping graduated from the Beijing Film Academy in 1989, and spent most of the 1990s teaching screenwriting at his alma mater. Foreign Languages Press is a publishing house located in China. Based in Beijing, it was founded in 1952 and currently forms part of the China International Publishing Group, which is owned and controlled by the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party.
