Xu Xin (general)
Xu Xin (; 16 March 1921 – 18 November 2005) was a general ('' shangjiang'') of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). He was an alternate member of the 12th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. He was a representative of the 9th, 12th, 13th, and 14th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. He was a delegate to the 4th and 5th National People's Congress. Biography Xu was born in Lingshou County, Zhili (now Hebei), on 16 March 1921. He enlisted in the Eighth Route Army in September 1937, and joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in November of that same year. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, he served in the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region and mainly fought with the Imperial Japanese Army in Hebei province. During the Chinese Civil War, he served in the war and engaged in the Battle of Qingfengdian, Battle of Shijiazhuang, Pingjin campaign, Battle of Taiyuan, and Battle of Ningxia. Major General
Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. The disappearance of the "sergeant" in the title explains the apparent confusion of a lieutenant general outranking a major general, whereas a major outranks a lieutenant. In the Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth and in the United States, when appointed to a field command, a major general is typically in command of a Division (military), division consisting of around 6,000 to 25,000 troops (several regiments or brigades). It is a two-star general, two-star rank that is subordinate to the rank of lieutenant general and senior to the rank of brigadier or brigadier general. Wu Xiuquan
Wu Xiuquan (; March 1908 – 9 November 1997) was a Chinese Communist revolutionary, military officer, and diplomat. He studied in the Soviet Union, enlisted in the Chinese Red Army, and participated in the Long March. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, China's first ambassador to Yugoslavia, and Vice Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China. After being imprisoned for eight years during the Cultural Revolution, Wu was appointed Deputy Chief of the People's Liberation Army General Staff Department in 1975 and later served as vice president of the special court that tried and convicted the Gang of Four and the Lin Biao clique of numerous crimes during the Cultural Revolution. People's Liberation Army General Staff Department
The Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission (JSDCMC) () is the command organ and the headquarters for the People's Liberation Army (PLA), superseding the former PLA General Staff Department (GSD). It was established on 11 January 2016, under the military reforms of Central Military Commission (CMC) chairman Xi Jinping. Headquartered in Beijing, the Joint Staff Department (JSD) is under the absolute leadership of the CMC and likely serves as an institutional link between members of the CMC and post-2016 PLA theater commands.
