Ximena Peña
Ximena del Rocío Peña Pacheco (born 11 February 1976) is an Ecuadorian politician. She served as a member of the National Assembly from 2013 to 2020, and was the presidential candidate of the incumbent PAIS Alliance party in the 2021 election. Career Ximena Peña was born in Cuenca, Ecuador, on 11 February 1976. She moved to New York City at the age of 19. She earned an associate degree from LaGuardia Community College, then entered Baruch College. At Baruch, she completed a Bachelor and Master of Business Administration. Peña returned to Ecuador in 2008 and joined the PAIS Alliance political party. In the 2013 general elections, Peña was elected to the National Assembly for the United States and Canada overseas constituency. National Assembly Of Ecuador
The National Assembly ( es, Asamblea Nacional) is the unicameral legislature of Ecuador. It replaced the National Congress in 2009 following reforms under the 2008 Constitution. The current President of the Assembly is Virgilio Saquicela since 31 May 2022. Within Ecuador, the National Assembly has the power to pass laws, while appointment of judges to the National Court of Justice is done by a separate Judicial Council. Rafael Correa
Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado (; born 6 April 1963), known as Rafael Correa, is an Ecuadorian politician and economist who served as President of Ecuador from 2007 to 2017. The leader of the PAIS Alliance political movement from its foundation until 2017, Correa is a democratic socialist and his administration focused on the implementation of left-wing policies. Internationally, he served as president '' pro tempore'' of the UNASUR. Born to a lower middle-class mestizo family in Guayaquil, Correa studied economics at the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, the University of Louvain (UCLouvain), and the University of Illinois, where he received his PhD. 2017 Ecuadorian General Election
General elections were held in Ecuador on 19 February 2017 alongside a referendum on tax havens. Voters elected a new President and National Assembly. Incumbent President Rafael Correa of the PAIS Alliance was not eligible for re-election, having served two terms. In the first round of the presidential elections, PAIS Alliance candidate Lenín Moreno received 39% of the vote. Although he was more than 10% ahead of his nearest rival, Guillermo Lasso of the Creating Opportunities party, Moreno was just short of the 40% threshold required to avoid a run-off. 2013 Ecuadorian General Election
General elections were held in Ecuador on 17 February 2013 to elect the President, the National Assembly, Provincial Assemblies and members of the Andean Parliament. The incumbent President Rafael Correa was re-elected by a wide margin. Correa's closest electoral rival, Guillermo Lasso, conceded the election shortly after it concluded. The vote had been set for January 2013, but was put back a month to allow a full year to elapse after the reform of election rules.
