XPM (TV Series)
''XPM'' was a short-lived Canadian television sitcom broadcast in 2004 on CBC Television. It was centred on shamed former Prime Minister Bennett Macdonald, played by Don Ferguson, who was trying to adjust to a life where the best job he could find was at a small law firm in a shopping mall. The series also starred Dave Broadfoot as Macdonald's law partner, Kathy Greenwood as his wife, and Jessica Holmes as his secretary Jasmine. The series produced just two episodes, which the CBC aired back-to-back as a one-off comedy special on February 27, 2004, after declining to pick up any further episodes."Channel surfing". Roger Abbott
Roger Abbott (July 10, 1946March 26, 2011) was an English-born Canadian sketch comedian who was a founding member of the long-lived Canadian comedy troupe ''Royal Canadian Air Farce'', and remained one of its stars and writers until his death. Early life Abbott was born in Birkenhead, England; at age 7, he and his family moved to Montreal. While attending Loyola High School (Montreal), Loyola High School, he met Don Ferguson (actor), Don Ferguson, who would become a co-star of Royal Canadian Air Farce. After graduation in 1963, he attended Loyola College (Montreal), Loyola College (now Concordia University (Quebec), Concordia University). Career Abbott began his career in behind-the-scene jobs in radio. Jessica Holmes (born August 29, 1973) is a Canadians, Canadian comedian and actress. She is best known for her work with the ''Royal Canadian Air Farce'', which she joined in 2003, after starring in her own show, ''The Holmes Show'' in 2002. She is married to actor Scott Yaphe. Holmes attended Canterbury High School (Ottawa), Canterbury High School in Ottawa followed by Toronto Metropolitan University, Ryerson University in Toronto. For one season, Holmes hosted her own show, ''The Holmes Show''. She also appeared on ''XPM (TV series), XPM'' and ''History Bites''. Holmes is the daughter of a feminist mother and a Mormon father. Don Ferguson (born May 30, 1946) is a Canadian actor, writer, and producer and is one of the stars of the ''Royal Canadian Air Farce''. He and Dave Broadfoot were the only Canadian-born original cast members of ''Air Farce''. In 1998, Ferguson and the original Air Farce cast of Roger Abbott, Luba Goy, and John Morgan received the Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, Canada's highest honour in the performing arts. His many ''Air Farce'' roles included parodies of Paul Martin, Pierre Trudeau, Ron MacLean, Jack Layton, Joe Clark, Preston Manning, Stockwell Day, Rex Murphy, Lucien Bouchard, Bill Clinton, Brian Mulroney, Vladimir Putin, Bob Dylan, and Keith Richards. The ''Nanaimo Daily News'' was a Canadian daily newspaper published weekdays in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island in British Columbia for 141 years until ceasing publication in January 2016. The paper's final owner was Black Press, which also publishes the ''Alberni Valley Times'' and the ''Ladysmith-Chemainus Chronicle'', and several other weekly newspapers on the island. The ''Journal Pioneer'' is a weekly newspaper published in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Two men named Bernard and Bertram founded the ''Summerside Journal'', a weekly newspaper, in 1865. Under the leadership of A.R. Brennan, the ''Journal'' began publishing daily on September 21, 1939, in order to provide regular news of World War II. After the war, the ''Journal'' cut down to twice-weekly publication, then tri-weekly in 1949 after it closed a sister paper, ''The P.E. Island Agriculturalist''. After a fire at the press plant in 1947, the ''Journal'' was printed at the presses of its rival paper, ''The Pioneer'', which had been founded in 1876 in Alberton, moving to Summerside in 1880. The papers merged into ''The Journal-Pioneer'' in 1951, and adopted a daily (weekdays) publishing schedule in October 1957. A Saturday edition was added two years later.
