Włodzimierz Juszczak
Włodzimierz Roman Juszczak OSBM (born 19 July 1957 in Legnica, Poland) is the current bishop ordinary of the Wrocław-Gdańsk Eparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Biography Włodzimierz Juszczak parents were deported from the village near Gorlitz Bednarek in the Lemko region as a result of the Operation Vistula in 1942 to forced labor in Germany. On the way back from exile, the family learned that, on 11 April 1945, 180 people were killed there, of Ukrainian nationality, together with the pastor, Fr. Biłykiem. In this situation, for a time he stopped in the village of Rosochata near Legnica, where in 1947, met with displaced persons from the Lemko. His parents met themselves in 1956 and entered into a marriage. Legnica
Legnica (Polish: ; german: Liegnitz, szl, Lignica, cz, Lehnice, la, Lignitium) is a city in southwestern Poland, in the central part of Lower Silesia, on the Kaczawa River (left tributary of the Oder) and the Czarna Woda (Kaczawa), Czarna Woda. Between 1 June 1975 and 31 December 1998 Legnica was the capital of the Legnica Voivodeship. It is currently the seat of the county and since 1992 the city has been the seat of a Diocese of Legnica, Diocese. As of 2021, Legnica had a population of 97,300 inhabitants. Lemkos
Lemkos ( rue, Лeмкы, translit= Lemkŷ; pl, Łemkowie; uk, Лемки, translit=Lemky) are an ethnic group inhabiting the Lemko Region ( rue, Лемковина, translit=Lemkovyna; uk, Лемківщина, translit=Lemkivshchyna) of Carpathian Rus', an ethnographic region in the Carpathian Mountains and foothills spanning Ukraine, Slovakia and Poland. Their affiliation with other ethnicities is controversial. Some Lemkos consider their ethnos to be a sub-group of Rusyns (also called Carpatho-Rusyns or Carpatho-Ruthenians). Other Carpathian ethnic groups identifying as Rusyns include the Boykos and Hutsuls.
