Wyrley Rangers F.C. was a association football, football club based in Essington, Wolverhampton, England. The club was established in 1988. In 1998, they joined the West Midlands (Regional) League Division One North and gained promotion to the Premier Division in 2005. The club folded in 2007. History Wyrley Rangers Football Club was founded in 1998 and immediately joined the West Midlands Regional League, however after one season they left that league to play in the Wolverhampton Combination. They re-joined the West Midlands League in 2001, playing in Division One North, and finished mid-table in their first season. In 2003 they absorbed another club from the same division, Marston Wolves. In the 2004–05 season the club started off poorly but turned their fortunes around after the arrival of Tony Wall as manager, with a run of 12 successive wins carrying them to third place in the Division One table. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. Essington
Essington is a village and civil parish in South Staffordshire, England, located near the city of Wolverhampton and towns of Walsall, Bloxwich, Cannock and Brewood. The villages of Cheslyn Hay, Great Wyrley, Coven, Penkridge and Featherstone are also nearby. The village forms part of the Staffordshire/West Midlands border. History In 1870-1872 the '' Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales'' described Essington as a township in the parish of Bushbury, with a post office and 187 houses. The population had risen from 644 in 1851 to 976 in 1861, "from the extension of mining operations", and an iron church with room for 260 people had been built in 1858–1859. JW Hunt Cup
The JW Hunt Cup is an annual charity football competition for teams based in the West Midlands area of England. The defending champions are Lye Town, who defeated Boldmere St. Michaels 2–1 in the 2021–22 final. History The JW Hunt Cup was formed in 1926 to raise funds for the benefit of the local blind. It is named in memory of John William Hunt, a local businessman, keen supporter of charities and founder of the Chillington Tool Company. The inaugural winners at the end of the 1926–27 season were Short Heath United, beating Cannon Iron on 14 April 1927 at Molineux. Short Heath United are the joint most successful club in the competition alongside Goodyear F.C, with both clubs having won on four occasions.
