Wyre Davies
Wyre Davies is a Welsh journalist, and South America correspondent for BBC News. He speaks fluent Welsh and Spanish. Background His maternal grandfather, Captain Evan Rowlands of Llanon, was captain of , which whilst making passage between Brazil and the West Coast of Canada, on 22 May 1938 whilst under the control of a local pilot ran aground on Zealous Island, Messier Channel, Chile. Subsequently abandoned by her crew, salvage efforts were also abandoned on 6 June. Later he was captain of , which during the Battle of the Atlantic was torpedoed and sunk west of the Outer Hebrides () by with the loss of eight of her 38 crew. Survivors including Captain Rowlands were rescued by a Short Sunderland aircraft of 10 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force. Rowlands later retired to Llanrhystud, where Davies was born. 2011 Egyptian Protests
The 2011 Egyptian revolution, also known as the 25 January revolution ( ar, ثورة ٢٥ يناير; ), began on 25 January 2011 and spread across Egypt. The date was set by various youth groups to coincide with the annual Egyptian "Police holiday" as a statement against increasing police brutality during the last few years of Hosni Mubarak's presidency. It consisted of demonstrations, marches, occupations of plazas, non-violent civil resistance, acts of civil disobedience and strikes. Millions of protesters from a range of socio-economic and religious backgrounds demanded the overthrow of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Jeremy Bowen
Jeremy Francis John Bowen (born 6 February 1960) is a Welsh journalist and television presenter. He was the BBC's Middle East correspondent based in Jerusalem between 1995 and 2000 and the BBC Middle East editor from 2005 to 2022, before being appointed the International Editor of BBC News in August 2022. Michal Katya Adler (born 3 May 1972) is a British journalist. She has been the BBC's Europe editor since 2014. Early life Adler was born on 3 May 1972 in Hampstead, north London, to German parents. She attended the independent, fee-paying South Hampstead High School. She studied German and Italian at the University of Bristol. The ''BBC News at Six'' is the evening news programme bulletin from the BBC. Produced by BBC News, the programme is broadcast on the BBC News (TV channel), BBC News channel and on British television channel BBC One on weekdays at 6:00pm. For a long period, the ''BBC News at Six'' was the most watched news programme in the UK but since 2006 it has been overtaken by the ''BBC News at Ten'' (10:00pm).
