Wyoming Statistical Areas
The U.S. currently has nine statistical areas that have been delineated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). On March 6, 2020, the OMB delineated two metropolitan statistical areas and seven micropolitan statistical areas in Wyoming. Wyoming CBSAs 2020
Wyoming () is a state in the Mountain West subregion of the Western United States. It is bordered by Montana to the north and northwest, South Dakota and Nebraska to the east, Idaho to the west, Utah to the southwest, and Colorado to the south. With a population of 576,851 in the 2020 United States census, Wyoming is the least populous state despite being the 10th largest by area, with the second-lowest population density after Alaska. Weston County is a county in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 6,838. Its county seat is Newcastle. Its east boundary line abuts the west line of the state of South Dakota. History Weston County was created by the legislature of the Wyoming Territory on March 12, 1890, of land partitioned from Crook County. Weston County was named for John Weston, a geologist and surveyor. In 1887, Jefferson Weston and Frank Mondell found rich coal deposits north of Newcastle which caused a railroad to be built through the area. Crook County is a county in the northeastern section of the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 7,181, making it the third-least populous county in Wyoming. Gillette (, '' jih-LET'') is a city in and the county seat of Campbell County, Wyoming, United States. The town was founded in 1891 as a major railway town on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. The population was estimated at 32,030 as of July 1, 2019.
