Wynyard Cricket Club (WCC) is a cricket team which represents the town of Wynyard in the North West Tasmanian Cricket Association (now Cricket North West) grade cricket competition. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Wynyard ( /ˈwɪnjɚd/) ''wi-nyuhd'') is a rural town located on the North West coast of Tasmania, Australia. Wynyard is situated west of Burnie. Cricket Tasmania Premier League, or Tasmanian Premier Cricket, refers to the hierarchically graded cricket competitions played in Tasmania, Australia. Sheffield Cricket Club (SCC) is a cricket team which represents Sheffield in the North Western Tasmanian Cricket Association grade cricket competition, in the Australian state of Tasmania. Based under Mount Roland the Sheffield Cricket Club continue to punch above their weight against clubs with a much larger population base. In a recent transformation, the club reinvigorated the community by introducing 5 new teams including two senior female, men’s social and U12 and U14 teams. These additional teams complimented the two senior men’s and U16 teams taking the club to 8 teams along with over 20 players in the Woolworths Blast program. Jamie Cox
Jamie Cox (born 15 October 1969) is an Australian cricketer and former opening batsman for Tasmania in Australia's domestic competitions. He then played county cricket in England where he captained Somerset. He is a former member of the Cricket Australia's National Selection Committee and previously Director of Cricket at the South Australian Cricket Association. He was then General Manager of Football Performance at the St Kilda Football Club in the AFL, before being appointed to the MCC staff as Assistant Secretary. Dene Hills
Dene Fleetwood Hills (born 27 August 1970) is an Australian former first-class cricketer who played for the Tasmanian Tigers. He was a left-handed top order batsman, who spent much of his career opening the batting alongside Jamie Cox. Former wicketkeeper Darren Berry regarded Hills as one of the better players never to have played test cricket. He currently works as a performance analyst for the Australia national cricket team.
