Wylde Green Railway Station
Wylde Green railway station is a railway station serving northern Wylde Green and Boldmere in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, West Midlands, England. It is on the Redditch-Birmingham New Street-Lichfield Cross-City Line north east of Birmingham New Street, and is in Centro fare zone 4. The station was opened on 2 June 1862, when the LNWR Birmingham to Sutton Coldfield railway line was completed and later operated by the LMS. The station has a car park. Pedestrian and vehicular access is via Station Road, with pedestrian access also available from Highbridge Road. The platforms are above the former road, but below the latter. Despite the station name, Chester Road railway station is located closer to Wylde Green's shopping centre, The Lanes. Service Monday to Saturdays there is a 10-minute frequency southbound with three trains per hour to Longbridge and three to Redditch. Cross-City Line
The Cross-City Line is a commuter rail line in the West Midlands region of England. It runs for from Redditch and Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, its two southern termini, to Lichfield, Staffordshire, its northern terminus, via Birmingham New Street, connecting the suburbs of Birmingham in between. Services are operated by West Midlands Trains. Cross-City Line services began in 1978, as a project of the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive (WMPTE) to improve local rail services. British Rail Class 323
The British Rail Class 323 are electric multiple unit (EMU) passenger trains built by Hunslet Transportation Projects and Holec. All 43 units were built from 1992 through to 1995, although mock-ups and prototypes were built and tested in 1990 and 1991. Entering service in 1994, the 323s were among the last trains to enter service with British Rail before its privatisation in the mid-1990s. The units were designed to operate on inner-suburban commuter lines in and around Birmingham and Manchester with swift acceleration and high reliability. Of the 43 sets built, 26 are in operation with West Midlands Trains and 17 with Northern Trains. Four Oaks railway station serves the Four Oaks area of Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, England. It is situated on the Cross-City Line. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by West Midlands Railway. History The station opened in 1884, when the London and North Western Railway's line from Birmingham to Sutton Coldfield was extended to Lichfield. More recently, in May 1978 Four Oaks became the northern terminus of the newly inaugurated Cross-City Line from via Birmingham New Street, with trains running up to every 10 minutes in each direction.
