Wyatt Davis (born February 17, 1999) is an American football guard for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ohio State and was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Early life and high school Davis grew up in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and attended St. John Bosco High School. Davis was rated a five-star recruit by Rivals, 247Sports and Scout and committed to play college football at Ohio State over offers from Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, UCLA, USC and Washington. College career Davis redshirted his true freshman season. In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section).
