Wunlit Peace Conference
The Dinka–Nuer West Bank Peace & Reconciliation Conference of 1999 was held in what was then the Southern part of Sudan. It is commonly called the "Wunlit Peace Conference" after Wunlit, the village where it was held in eastern Tonj State, Tonj County in Bahr el Ghazal (region of South Sudan), Bahr El Ghazal. The conference brought together Nuer people, Nuer from Western Upper Nile (state), Upper Nile and Dinka people, Dinka from Tonj, Rumbek, and Yirol. It is the most prominent and comprehensively documented case of a people-to-people peace process in what is now the Republic of South Sudan. SPLA-Nasir
The SPLA-Nasir was a splinter faction of the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), a rebel group that fought in the Second Sudanese Civil War. Originally created as an attempt by the Nuer people, Nuer tribe to replace SPLA leader John Garang in August 1991, it gradually became co-option, coopted by the government. The break away of Riek Machar from SPLM/A resulted in Nuer ethnic group massacring Garang's ethnic Dinka from Bor in the Bor massacre in 1991. This split resulted in the 1994 National Convention of New Sudan in Chukudum. The splinter group gets its name from the Nasir Declaration, the document written by the group prior their secession. All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC, or CETA) is an ecumenical fellowship that represents more than 200 million African Christians in 204 national churches and regional Christian councils in 43 African Countries. The World Council of Churches (WCC) is a worldwide Christian inter-church organization founded in 1948 to work for the cause of ecumenism. Lokichogio (also ''Lokichoggio'' or ''Lokichokio''), is a town in the Turkana District in northwest Kenya (). It is often called Loki for short. The town lies on the A1 road, and is served by the Lokichogio Airport. Sudan Council Of Churches
The New Sudan Council of Churches (NSCC) is an organization comprising six churches located in Southern Sudan: the Roman Catholic Church, Episcopal Church of the Sudan, Presbyterian Church of Sudan, African Inland Church, Sudan Pentecostal Church, and Sudan Interior Church. Formed in 1989–1990 under Bishop Paride Taban, the NSCC has acted as a facilitator in peace negotiations during the Second Sudanese Civil War. Along with its stated goal of Christian fellowship, it is active in reconciliation advocacy and human rights. The NSCC most widely reported success was the negotiation of an end to inter-ethnic fighting among Nuer in 1999. Twic State
Twic State was a state in South Sudan that existed between 2 October 2015 and 22 February 2020. It was located in the Bahr el Ghazal region and it bordered Aweil East to the west, the disputed Abyei region to the north, Gogrial to the south, Northern Liech to the east, and Ruweng to the northeast. The population of Twic State was recorded at 204,905 in 2008, and was estimated at a population of 543,410 in 2014. The capital of the state was Mayen-Abun, with an estimated population of around 2,000 people in city limits.
