Wu Qidi
Wu Qidi (; born August 1947) is a Chinese politician and engineer. She is the president of the Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association. Education Wu completed her undergraduate degree in radio engineering at Tsinghua University in 1970. She worked as a technician in a factory making equipment for the Yunnan Central Office for telecommunications until 1975, when she moved to Beijing to become a technician in the China Electronics Standardization Institute. In 1978, Wu resumed her studies as a master's student Tsinghua University, researching precision instruments and working as an assistant engineer. From 1981 to 1986, Wu studied for a PhD at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. Career From 1986 to 1989, Wu worked as a lecturer at Tongji University before becoming an assistant professor, then a professor. The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (german: Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, or , BVO) is the only federal decoration of Germany. It is awarded for special achievements in political, economic, cultural, intellectual or honorary fields. It was created by the first President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Theodor Heuss, on 7 September 1951. Colloquially, the decorations of the different classes of the Order are also known as the Federal Cross of Merit (). It has been awarded to over 200,000 individuals in total, both Germans and foreigners. Since the 1990s, the number of annual awards has declined from over 4,000, first to around 2,300–2,500 per year, and now under 2,000, with a low of 1752 in 2011.
