Wrinkly Face Provincial Park
Wrinkly Face Provincial Park is a provincial park 16 kilometres north of Winfield in British Columbia, Canada. History The park was established May 20, 2004. Geography The park is 43 hectares in size. It encompasses a southern-facing cliff along with a series of dry meadows above the cliff and wetter meadows below. The cliff edge provides views of Okanagan Lake and the land toward Kelowna. The High Rim Trail passes through the park along the upper edge of the cliff. Conservation The primary role of Wrinkly Face Park is to protect the series of dry meadows at the top of the cliff and the wetter meadows at its base, along with the interior Douglas fir forest. The dry, seasonally-wet, diverse meadows are extremely fragile. Blue-listed species are species that belong to the Blue List and includes any indigenous species or subspecies (taxa) considered to be vulnerable in their locale in order to provide early warning to federal and regional governments. ''Cyperus'' is a large genus of about 700 species of sedges, distributed throughout all continents in both tropical and temperate regions. Floerkea
''Floerkea'' is a monotypic genus of plants in the meadowfoam family containing the sole species ''Floerkea proserpinacoides'', which is known by the common names false mermaid, false mermaidweed, and floerkea. This tiny wildflower is native to many parts of North America, where it is found in moist areas such as shady forests. It is a fleshy, annual herb which grows short stems which may lie flat on the ground, tangle into a clump, or grow somewhat erect. The foliage is hairless and shiny. The leaves are divided into many oval-shaped, pointed leaflets up to long. ''Linanthus'' is a genus of annual and perennial plants in the phlox family Polemoniaceae. The species are found in western North America and in Chile, with the greatest diversity in California.
