Wrexham Association Football Club Women ( cy, Merched Clwb Pêl-droed Cymdeithas Wrecsam), formerly Wrexham Ladies F.C., is a Welsh semi-professional women's football club that competes in the Adran Premier, the first-tier of women's football in Wales. Since their reformation in 2018, the club has been affiliated with Wrexham A.F.C., which competes in EFL League Two, the fourth division of English football. Before that, as Wrexham Ladies F.C., they helped found the North Wales Women's Football League in 2003 and the Welsh Premier Women's League in 2009. Welsh Premier League (women)
The Adran Premier, currently known as genero Adran Premier (for sponsorship reasons), is the highest level of league competition for women's football in Wales. It is the women's equivalent of the men's Cymru Premier, and it is organized by the Football Association of Wales. As of 2022, the league is ranked 41st overall by the UEFA Women's association club coefficients. History In its first three seasons, the league was divided into two Conferences that played a double round robin, with the winner of both contesting a final for the championship. The first season featured no relegation, from the 2010–11 season onwards, the last placed team in each conference got relegated. Since 2012–13 the league is played in one group only. Gareth Owen (footballer, Born 1971)
Gareth Owen (born 21 October 1971) is a Welsh former footballer, who played as a midfielder for various English and Welsh clubs between 1989 and 2011. He is currently the manager of Wrexham AFC Women Under 19s. Career Owen spent twelve years as a professional at Wrexham, and was rewarded by a testimonial match against Manchester United in 2000 which drew a crowd of 13,000 to the Racecourse Ground. He then spent two years at Doncaster Rovers before moving to Connah's Quay Nomads. He joined Airbus UK Broughton in August 2005 as Player-Manager. In July 2008 he moved to Rhyl on a one-year deal to play under his former assistant manager at Airbus, Allan Bickerstaff. In May 2009 he was named as the Welsh Premier League's Player of the Season. Latham Park
Latham Park is a multi-purpose stadium in Newtown, Wales. It is currently used for football matches and is the home ground of Newtown F.C. The stadium holds 5,000 people and is named after former Wales international footballer George Latham. Over the years the club have played at a number of sites but the officers and general committee of the late 1940s took the decision to purchase and construct a new playing headquarters at a site to be called Latham Park. This decision was a far-sighted one, and the present board officers, committee, supporters and players owe much to their counterparts of some 60 years ago. Maesdu Park (known aOPS WindArena for sponsorship reasons) is a multi-sport stadium in Llandudno, Wales. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches, and is the home ground oJD Cymru North Leagueteam Llandudno F.C. The 2015–16 Welsh League Cup, 2016 Welsh League Cup final was held at the ground. ''The Non-League Paper'' is a weekly English sports paper based on non-League football. It is published every Sunday. For a short while a midweek edition was also published. The publication features match reports from the previous day's top four levels of English non-league football with round-ups of step five divisions.
