The men's Greco-Roman 96 kilograms at the 2004 Summer Olympics as part of the wrestling program were held at the Ano Liosia Olympic Hall, August 25 to August 26. The competition held with an elimination system of three or four wrestlers in each pool, with the winners qualify for the quarterfinals, semifinals and final by way of direct elimination. Ano Liosia Olympic Hall
Ano Liosia Olympic Hall is a multi-purpose and multi-sport indoor arena that is located in Ano Liosia, a suburb of Athens, Greece. The arena was mainly used to host various martial arts tournaments but from 2021 its used by AEK B.C. for its home games in the Greek Basket League and the Basketball Champions League. Kaloyan Dinchev ( bg, Калоян Динчев; born February 3, 1980, in Stara Zagora) is an amateur Bulgarian Greco-Roman wrestler, who played for the men's heavyweight category. He won a bronze medal for his division at the 2006 World Wrestling Championships in Guangzhou, China. He is also a two-time Olympian, and a member of Slavia Litex Wrestling Club in Sofia, under his personal coach Bratan Tzenov. Dinchev made his official debut for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where he placed second in the preliminary pool of the men's 96 kg class, against Kyrgyzstan's Gennady Chkhaidze and Palau's John Tarkong. Marek Sitnik
Marek Sitnik (born 20 April 1975 in Olsztyn) is a Polish former Greco-Roman wrestler, who competed in the men's heavyweight category. Sitnik won silver medals in the 90-kg division at both the 1993 and 1994 European Junior Championships, and later competed in two Olympic Games (2000 and 2004). Throughout his sporting career, Sitnik trained at Śląsk Wrestling Club in Wrocław, under his personal coach and mentor Jerzy Adamek. Sitnik made his official debut at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, competing in the men's super heavyweight division (130 kg). Georgios Koutsioumpas ( gr, Γεώργιος Κουτσιούμπας; born May 18, 1981, in Trikala) is an amateur Greek Greco-Roman wrestler, who competed in the men's heavyweight category. Koutsioumpas represented his home nation Greece at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, and later picked up a silver medal in the 96-kg division at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería, Spain. Throughout his sporting career, Koutsioumpas, along with his older brother Xenofon, trained as a member of the Greco-Roman wrestling team for Olympiacos F.C. in Piraeus, with whom he won the European CELA Cup in 2006. Steven Garrett Lowney (born October 3, 1979 in Appleton, Wisconsin) is an American former Greco-Roman Olympic wrestler. Lowney wrestled for the University of Minnesota under coach J Robinson.
