''Wrath of the Seas'' or ''When Fleet Meets Fleet'' (German: ''Die versunkene Flotte'') is a silent war film released in 1926. Directed by Graham Hewett and Manfred Noa and starring Bernhard Goetzke, Agnes Esterhazy and Nils Asther.Bock & Bergfelder p.8 It portrays the Imperial German Navy during the First World War, particularly the Battle of Jutland and is based on a novel written by Helmut Lorenz. The Battle of Jutland (german: Skagerrakschlacht, the Battle of the Skagerrak) was a naval battle fought between Britain's Royal Navy Grand Fleet, under Admiral John Jellicoe, 1st Earl Jellicoe, Sir John Jellicoe, and the Imperial German Navy's High Seas Fleet, under Vice-Admiral Reinhard Scheer, during the First World War. The battle unfolded in extensive manoeuvring and three main engagements (the battlecruiser action, the fleet action and the night action), from 31 May to 1 June 1916, off the North Sea coast of Denmark's Jutland Peninsula. It was the largest naval battle and the only full-scale clash of battleships in that war. Henry Stuart (1 February 1885 – 26 January 1948) was a Swiss film actor known for his work in Germany. Stuart was born in Cairo as son of a Swiss doctor, but educated in Britain. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, intending to become a painter. After moving into the German film industry following the First World War, Stuart played a number of prominent supporting roles in productions such as '' Joyless Street'' (1925).Isenberg p.142 Stuart's film career largely ended with the arrival of sound, and he worked increasingly on the stage. Werner Pittschau
Werner Pittschau (24 March 1902 – 28 October 1928) was a German theater and film actor of the silent film era. He was a leading men in 30 films during the 1920s, but his career was cut short by his death in an automobile accident, aged 26. Pittschau was the son of the German theater actor Ernst Pittschau (1859-1916) and the Viennese theatre and film Hilda Hofer-Pittschau née Schützenhofer (1873-1961), theater and movie actress. He began his career after training in 1919 as an actor at the Deutsches Landestheater in Prague. His older half-brother was actor Ernst Pittschau (1883-1951). On Sunday, 28 October 1928, Werner Pittschau and his girlfriend, dancer Wilma Harmening, were driving from Berlin to Mecklenburg when Pittschau lost control of the vehicle and collided into a tree near the village of Gerdshagen.
