Wrasse Records
Wrasse Records is a British record label based in Ashtead, Surrey. It was started in 1998 by Ian and Jo Ashbridge. Both had been involved in the music industry prior to them starting up their own company. Its offices are based in the UK, but it distributes its CDs all around the world. In 2005, it licensed most of Universal Music's world music releases for distribution in the United States and the UK. Wrasse Records specializes in world music, with artists such as Fela Kuti, Rachid Taha, Ismael Lo, Souad Massi, Angélique Kidjo, K'naan and Pink Martini. Wrasse recording artist Seu Jorge appeared in the film ''The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou'' (released November 2004), performing songs onscreen and on the The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (soundtrack), official soundtrack album (released by a Hollywood Records, different label). ''Cru'' is a 2004 album by Seu Jorge first released in France on September 21, 2004 by the Parisian independent label Fla-Flu (Favela Chic) with the record company Naïve. This was his second album to be released outside his native Brazil, the first being '' Carolina''. Many of the songs on the album are covers such as "Chatterton", written by Serge Gainsbourg and "Don't" by Leiber & Stoller. The Bathers are a Scottish chamber pop band. The vehicle for singer-songwriter, Chris Thomson, they are sometimes referred to as ''"the best-kept secret in Scottish music"'' and have released seven albums. Initially active between 1985 and 2001, they reformed in 2016. Tony Oladipo Allen (20 July 1940 – 30 April 2020) was a Nigerian drummer, composer, and songwriter who lived and worked in Paris, France.
