Woy Woy Tunnel
The Woy Woy railway tunnel is a heritage-listed railway tunnel located between Wondabyne and Woy Woy stations on the Main Northern railway line in New South Wales, Australia. The dual-track tunnel was opened on 16 January 1888. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 28 June 2013. Description Woy Woy Tunnel is a double track railway tunnel passing beneath a sandstone ridge between Brisbane Water and Mullet Creek. The tunnel is of brick construction throughout. The tunnel was originally built for double track service and thus did not require widening when the line was duplicated in 1906. The brick portals feature a brick string course, but are otherwise plain. The tunnel is horseshoe shaped, straight and has an average 1 in 150 gradient. There is a long cutting in bedrock leading to both portals. At the time of its completion in 1888, the tunnel was the longest railway tunnel in Australia. Woy Woy is a coastal town in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, located on the southern reaches of Brisbane Water north of Sydney. It is a population centre within the local government area. Woy Woy is located in the northern half of the Woy Woy Peninsula, a densely populated estuarine peninsula that also includes the districts of Umina Beach, Ettalong Beach, Booker Bay and Blackwall, in addition to several small sub-districts. Built by A Goninan & Co, the sets entered service between 1988 and 1995, initially under the State Rail Authority and later CityRail. Gosford Railway Station
Gosford railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the Central Coast city of Gosford, opening on 15 August 1887. Between January 1960 and April 1982, Gosford was the northern extremity of the electrified network. The station buildings were demolished and replaced by the current structure which opened on 10 September 1993. An extensive network of stabling sidings exist north and south of the station. A functioning water crane is located at the northern end of Platform 2 and is used occasionally by passing steam locomotives.
