Todd Worrell
Todd Roland Worrell (born September 28, 1959) is an American former professional baseball relief pitcher. He played all or part of eleven seasons for the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball, serving as those teams' closer for most of his seasons from 1985 through 1997. During his playing career, Worrell was a three-time National League (NL) All-Star. Born and raised in Arcadia, California, Worrell attended Biola University. He seldom pitched until his senior year, but his 94 mile-per-hour fastball caught the attention of a scout for the Cardinals, who made him their first round draft pick in 1982. Bernie Worrell
George Bernard Worrell, Jr. (April 19, 1944 – June 24, 2016) was an American keyboardist and record producer best known as a founding member of Parliament-Funkadelic and for his work with Talking Heads. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. Peter Worrell
Peter J. Worrell (born August 18, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Worrell played seven seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Florida Panthers and the Colorado Avalanche. During that time he was considered one of the most feared enforcers in the game, leading the major junior leagues in penalty minutes in 1996–97, as well as the NHL in 2001–02. Frank Worrell
Sir Frank Mortimer Maglinne Worrell (1 August 1924 – 13 March 1967), sometimes referred to by his nickname of Tae, was a West Indies cricketer and Jamaican senator. A stylish right-handed batsman and useful left-arm seam bowler, he became famous in the 1950s as the second black captain of the West Indies cricket team. Along with Everton Weekes and Clyde Walcott, he formed what was known as "The Three Ws" of the West Indian cricket. He was the first of the two batsmen to have been involved in two 500-run partnerships in first-class cricket, the latter being Ravindra Jadeja. The Worrell 1000 Race is an offshore long distance beach catamaran sailboat race that was held May 6–18, 2019 and that will be held again May 9–21, 2022. The race runs in the waters between Florida and Virginia Beach, United States. Cameron Joseph Worrell (born December 14, 1979) is a former American football safety who played in the National Football League. He was originally signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2003. He played college football at Fresno State. Mark Robert Worrell (born March 8, 1983) is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Baltimore Orioles between 2008 and 2011. David Worrell
David Worrell (born 12 January 1978) is an Irish footballer who played as a right back. Born in Dublin, he played in the Scottish Premier League for Dundee United, and the Football League for Plymouth Argyle and Rotherham United. Life and career Worrell signed for Blackburn from Shelbourne in January 1995 but had not made a first team appearance before he moved to Dundee United in March 1999. The right back made nineteen league appearances for the Scottish club before moving to Plymouth Argyle and went on to make over 150 league and cup appearances for the Home Park club during a successful spell in which they gained promotion twice. Lola Carrier Worrell
Lola Carrier Worrell (1 July 1870 – 29 January 1929) was an American composer who wrote instrumental music, songs, and at least one piece for musical theatre. Born in St. Johns, Michigan, she studied music with Carlos Sobimo, Francis Hendricks and Horace E Tureman. Lola married Edward S Worrell Jr. on January 12, 1891, and they had three daughters. The family maintained homes in New York and Colorado, where Lola founded the Denver American Music Society and served as its first president. She also organized and served as the pianist for the Chamber Music Quintet of Denver. Along with other musicians such as Caroline Holme Walker, Lola maintained a studio at Brinton Terrace in Denver, where she coached pianists, singers, and young composers. She gave recitals with contralto Louis Merten, whom she accompanied on piano. In addition to her work as a musician, Lola filed patents for dolls she developed in 1922, 1924, and 1925.
