World’s Funniest Island
World's Funniest Island was an Australian comedy event held on the third weekend in October on Cockatoo Island, in Sydney Harbour. The first World's Funniest Island event took place 17–18 October 2009. It consisted of approximately 200 shows and involving over 250 performers in 12 indoor venues, and three outdoor stages, playing to 12,000 punters. The team behind World's Funniest Island is John Pinder, Director; Nick Murray, CEO Jigsaw Entertainment; Michael Chugg and Matthew Lazarus Hall, Chugg Entertainment; and Greg James, investor and chairman of the board. The executive producer of World's Funniest Island is Gina Hall. Mark Ford was executive producer of the 2009 event. Scared Weird Little Guys
Scared Weird Little Guys (also referred to as SWLG or The Scaredies) were an Australian comedy music duo formed in July 1990, comprising John Fleming (vocals, guitar, mandolin) and Rusty Berther (vocals, guitar, banjo). The Scaredies performed their last live show in Brisbane in May 2011, until a one-off benefit gig in Melbourne in October 2016. They reunited for a three-day stint at the Brisbane Powerhouse on 8 to 10 March 2019. History In 1987, Fleming joined "Four Chairs No Waiting", an ''a cappella'' group comprising David Holmes, Ramsey Collins and Rusty Berther. Julian Morrow
Julian Francis Xavier Morrow (born 1975) is an Australian comedian and television producer from Sydney. He is best known for being a member of the satirical team The Chaser. As a member of The Chaser, he has appeared on several ABC Television programs including ''CNNNN'' (2002–03), '' The Chaser's War on Everything'' (2006–07, 2009) and ''The Checkout'' (2013–2018), of which he was also executive producer. Tripod are an Australian musical comedy trio founded by Scod (Scott Edgar), Yon (Simon Hall) and Gatesy (Steven Gates) in 1996. They provide original songs and harmonies, strung together by comic banter. History Live shows Tripod began as buskers in Melbourne malls, performing a far-fetched prop act of which no record exists. The Axis Of Awesome
The Axis of Awesome was an Australian comedy music act with members Jordan Raskopoulos, Lee Naimo and Benny Davis, that performed from 2006 to 2018. The trio covered a wide variety of performance styles, and perform a combination of original material and pop parodies. History The Axis of Awesome formed in 2006, their name being a play on the phrase "axis of evil" used by United States President George W. Bush. The trio were heavily involved in improv theatre at the University of Sydney and decided to try something different.
