World Tour (bodyboarding)
Current In 2020, the International Bodyboarding Corporation was created in order to run the bodyboarding world tour. For the period of 2020 to 2021, the IBC couldn't effectively run a tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic which impacted global travel. The IBC Bodyboarding World Tour consists of 6 divisions: Men, Women, Dropknee, Junior Men, Junior Women and Master Women. Tour details How each division is awarded the 2022 World Champion Title. * Men and Women: 4 best results * Junior Men: Best result + Fronton King event * Junior Women: Best result + Sintra Pro event * Dropknee: Best result + Sintra Pro event * Master Women: Single event winner - Wahine Bodyboard Pro History The first ever bodyboarding world tour was setup and created by the GOB (Global Organisation of Bodyboarders) in 1994. Bodyboarding
Bodyboarding is a water sport in which the surfer rides a bodyboard on the crest, face, and curl of a wave which is carrying the surfer towards the shore. Bodyboarding is also referred to as ''Boogieboarding'' due to the invention of the "Boogie Board" by Tom Morey in 1971. The average bodyboard consists of a short, rectangular piece of hydrodynamic foam. Bodyboarders typically use swim fins for additional propulsion and control while riding a breaking wave. Origin Bodyboarding originates from an ancient form of riding waves (surfing) on one's belly. Indigenous Polynesians rode "''alaia''" (pronounced ah-lie-ah) boards either on their belly, knees, or feet (in rare instances). ''Alaia'' boards were generally made from the wood of ''Acacia koa'' and varied in length and shape. They are distinct from the modern stand-up surfboards in that they had no ventral fins. Glenda Kozlowski
Glenda Kozlowski (born July 9, 1974) is a Brazilian journalist, television presenter and former bodyboarder. She is best known as host of Esporte Espetacular and Globo Esporte. Early life Glenda Kozlowski was born on July 9, 1974, in Rio de Janeiro. Her passion for sports began during childhood, with the encouragement of her father. Her father had refused to buy her a bodyboard, and a friend of her father's went to the first store and purchased a 7.7 boogie board. She placed second at her first contest. At that time, she also practiced judo, volleyball and tennis. Aged 10, she started surfing at the beach of Barra, in Rio. Shortly thereafter, she attended the championships brand. Career In 1989, Kozlowski won her first International title at the amateur bodyboarding championship at Sandy Beach.
