World Table Tennis (ITTF)
World Table Tennis, stylized as WTT, is an organization created by the ITTF in 2019 that runs commercialized table tennis tournaments. Its inaugural tournament was held in November 2020 in Macao, China (known as WTT Macao). It is distinguished from the ordinary ITTF World Tour by various rules changes and big prize money for commercialized purposes. The head of its council is Liu Guoliang, a former Olympic gold medalist and former head coach of China. Background In 1926, The ITTF was founded by William Henry Lawes of Wymondham, the nine founding members being Austria, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, England, Germany, Hungary, India, Sweden and Wales. Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball, also known as the ping-pong ball, back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage. Xinxiang
Xinxiang ( ; postal: Sinsiang) is a prefecture-level city in northern Henan province, China. Tomokazu Harimoto
is a Japanese table tennis player. In 2016, he won the world junior singles and team title at the 2016 World Junior Table Tennis Championships for Japan. In August 2017, he became the youngest ever winner of an ITTF World Tour men's singles title, winning the Czech Open title at the age of 14 years and 61 days. In December 2018, he became the youngest player to win the ITTF World Tour Grand Finals at the age of 15 years and 172 days. Sun Yingsha (simplified Chinese: 孙颖莎; born 4 November 2000) is a Chinese table tennis player. She is the current world No. 1 in women's singles. Career 2019 In the 2019 World Team Cup, Sun came back from down 10–7 in the deciding fifth game to defeat Mima Ito in the finals against Japan. Wang Manyu
Wang Manyu (, born 9 February 1999) is a Chinese table tennis player. She is the current world champion in women's singles and doubles. In the 2017 T2 Asia Pacific League, she replaced Ding Ning in round 2 for team Persson. 2018 began with Wang Manyu defeating world number one Chen Meng in the Hungarian Open Quarterfinals before going on to win the championship with wins against Chen Xingtong in the semi-finals and Sun Yingsha in the finals. Wang Chuqin (simplified Chinese: 王楚钦; born 11 May 2000) is a Chinese table tennis player who is currently world rank number 2 in ITTF and is the top left hand player. Most recently, he was the silver medallist in Men's singles, gold medallist in Mixed Doubles with Sun Yingsha and gold medallist in Men's doubles with Fan Zhendong for the 2023 World Table Tennis Championships in Durban.
