World Editions (WE) is an independent publishing house that focuses on bringing Dutch and international literature to an English readership. WE originates from the independent and respected Netherlands-based publishing house De Geus that was founded in 1983 by Eric Visser, founder and publisher of WE. History World Editions promotes voices from around the globe by publishing books from many different countries and languages into English translation. Through our work, we aim to enhance dialogue between cultures, foster new connections, and open doors which may otherwise have remained closed. World Editions was founded in 2013 by Eric Visser, publisher of Dutch literary house De Geus―home to many Nobel Prize-winning authors. Eric Visser
Eric Visser (born 4 June 1951) is the founder of both the Dutch publishing house De Geus and the Dutch-based publishing house World Editions. De Geus In 1983, he founded Dutch independent publishing house De Geus. Since then, he has always worked in publishing, as a publisher and managing director of De Geus. The start was difficult; De Geus was based in Breda, while most of the other publishing houses were in Amsterdam, because of this others didn’t think De Geus would be successful. But as a firm believer in the saying: "The world starts where you are", Visser was prepared to do the hard work. He even typed out and stapled the pages of the first title himself. And the hard work paid off; De Geus grew steadily each year. To date, De Geus has published over 2500 books. Johannes Anyuru
Johannes Anyuru (born 23 March 1979) is a Swedish poet and author. Biography Anyuru was born in Borås. His father is from Uganda and his mother is Swedish. He debuted in 2003 with ''Det är bara gudarna som är nya'' (Only The Gods Are New), a poetry collection. In this collection of poems Anyuru used Homer's epic Iliad as a background and inspiration for the portrayal of immigrant neighborhoods. A place that is often mentioned in his poetry is the area around ''Mörners road'' in Växjö, where Anyuru lived as a child. Reviews of this book linked his style to both older contemporary Swedish poets as Göran Sonnevi or Tomas Tranströmer, and hip hop band The Latin Kings. Anyurus second poetry collection, ''Omega'', is a much more downbeat since it deals with the loss of a close friend to cancer. Preeta Samarasan
Preeta Samarasan is a Malaysian author writing in English whose first novel, ''Evening Is the Whole Day'', won the Hopwood Novel Award (while she was doing her MFA at the University of Michigan), was a finalist for the Commonwealth Writers Prize 2009, and was on the longlist for the Orange Prize for Fiction. A number of short stories have also appeared in different magazines; “Our House Stands in a City of Flowers” won the Hyphen Asian American Short Story Contest or the Asian American Writers' Workshop/Hyphen Short Story award in 2007. Pilar Quintana
Pilar Quintana (born 1st of January in 1972) is a Colombian writer. She was born in Cali and studied at the Javeriana University in Bogota. In 2011 she attended the International Writing Program of the University of Iowa as a writer-in-residence, and in 2012 the International Writers Workshop of the Baptist University of Hong Kong as a visiting writer. Marente De Moor
Marente de Moor (; born 1972) is a Dutch novelist and columnist. She published four novels and two collections of short stories. She won the AKO Literatuurprijs (2011) and the European Union Prize for Literature (2014) for her novel ''De Nederlandse maagd'' (2010). Her work is translated into sixteen languages. Annelies Verbeke
Annelies Verbeke (born 6 February 1976) is a Belgian author who writes in Dutch. She made her name with the novel ''Slaap!'' (Sleep!) which has been translated into several languages. Charles den Tex (born 21 April 1952) is a Dutch writer. Early life Charles den Tex was born in Camberwell, Australia. His parents returned with him to the Netherlands when he was 6. Career Den Tex studied Photography and Cinematography in London, then worked as an English teacher in Paris. He also worked as a copywriter in an advertising agency in Amsterdam. In 1980, he began working as communication consultant. Håkan Nesser (born 21 February 1950) is a Swedish author and teacher who has written a number of successful novels, mostly but not only crime fiction. He has won Best Swedish Crime Novel Award three times, and his novel ''Carambole'' won the prestigious Glass Key award in 2000. Li Kotomi, Li Qinfeng (李琴峰 born on 26 Dec 1989), is a Taiwanese fiction writer, translator, and essayist in Mandarin and Japanese. She is known by her pen name, "Li Kotomi." Michael Kaufman (born March 27, 1951) is a Canadian author, educator, and theorist focused on engaging men and boys to promote gender equality, end violence against women, and end self-destructive ideals of manhood. He co-founded the White Ribbon Campaign in 1991, the largest network of men working to ending violence against women worldwide.
