World Cup Of Golf
The World Cup of Golf is a men's golf tournament contested by teams of two representing their country. Only one team is allowed from each country. The players are selected on the basis of the Official World Golf Ranking, although not all of the first choice players choose to compete. The equivalent event for women was the Women's World Cup of Golf, played from 2005 to 2008. History The tournament was founded by Canadian industrialist John Jay Hopkins, who hoped it would promote international goodwill through golf. It began in 1953 as the Canada Cup and changed its name to the World Cup in 1967. With Fred Corcoran as the Tournament Director and the International Golf Association behind it (1955–1977), the World Cup traveled the globe and grew to be one of golf's most prestigious tournaments throughout the 1960s and 1970s, but interest in the event faded to the point that the event was not held in 1981 or 1986. Wu Ashun
Wu Ashun (born 22 June 1985) is a Chinese professional golfer. He has won four times on the European Tour and twice on the Japan Golf Tour. Professional career Wu played on the Asian Tour in 2008 and 2009. His best finish was T-4 at the 2009 Singha Thailand Open. Wu played on the Japan Golf Tour in 2010 and from 2012 to 2015. Li Haotong (, born 3 August 1995) is a Chinese professional golfer. Career Li turned professional in 2011 and played his early pro career on the OneAsia Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia. Jacob Thorbjørn Olesen (born 21 December 1989) is a Danish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour, where he has won six times including the 2016 Turkish Airlines Open and the 2018 Italian Open. Søren Kjeldsen (; born 17 May 1975) is a Danish golfer who plays on the European Tour. Professional career Kjeldsen turned professional in 1995. The 2016 World Cup of Golf (known as the 2016 ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf for sponsorship reasons) was a golf tournament played from 24–27 November at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia. It was the 58th World Cup. Twenty-eight countries competed as two-player teams. The format was 72-hole stroke play; the first and third days were alternate shot, and the second and fourth days were four-ball play. The tournament was won by Denmark by four shots. Roberto Díaz (born 3 February 1987) is a Mexican professional golfer. He currently plays on the Korn Ferry Tour. He played collegiate golf for USC Aiken from 2005 to 2008 before turning professional in 2009. Professional career In 2017, Díaz lost in a playoff to Ethan Tracy at the Club Colombia Championship.
