World Bowl VII
World Bowl '99 (also referred to as World Bowl VII) was the seventh championship game of the NFL Europe League. It was held at Rheinstadion in Düsseldorf, Germany on Sunday, June 27, 1999. The game was between the 6–4 Frankfurt Galaxy and the 7–3 Barcelona Dragons. 39,643 fans were in attendance for the match-up, as they witnessed Pat Barnes, Jake Delhomme (future Carolina Panthers quarterback) and the Galaxy avenge last year's World Bowl loss with a 38–24 victory over the Dragons. Galaxy wide receiver Andy McCullough captured MVP honors with six receptions for 151 yards and three touchdowns, with his longest reception at 45 yards. Frankfurt Galaxy (NFL Europe)
The Frankfurt Galaxy were a professional American football team that originally played in the World League of American Football and later in the resurrected NFL Europe. The team was based in Frankfurt, Germany and played in the Commerzbank-Arena, formerly called Waldstadion. The Galaxy was the only team in the league to have remained in operation and in the same city throughout the league's existence. As of 2021, an unrelated team of the same name plays in the European League of Football. History In 1991, the Galaxy was a founding member of the World League of American Football ( WLAF). They hosted the first ever WLAF game against the London Monarchs at the Waldstadion on March 23, 1991, and scored the first ever WLAF points with a safety, but lost the game. Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. World Bowl
The World Bowl was the annual American football championship game of the World League of American Football/NFL Europe. The World Bowl was played each year from 1991 to 2007 (except 1993 and 1994). The game was conceived as the final of the NFL-related spring league, the World League. The first World Bowl was played in 1991 in London. With the 1995 relaunch of the World League with the North American teams removed, all subsequent World Bowls were played in Europe between European clubs. The only World Bowl to take place outside Europe was World Bowl '92 in Montreal, Canada. Mario Bailey (born November 30, 1970) is a retired American football wide receiver who is the all-time reception leader in NFL Europe. He played for the Frankfurt Galaxy (NFL Europe), Frankfurt Galaxy from 1995 through 2000 and was a favorite player for the local German fans. Bailey was selected by the 1992 Houston Oilers season, Houston Oilers in the sixth round of the 1992 NFL Draft. Rene Ingoglia
Rene Ingoglia (born May 23, 1972) is a former National Football League player and sports broadcaster for ESPN. He is also a detective with the Orlando Police Department. Ingoglia was a stand-out running back with the UMass Minutemen football team, earning All-American honors. After a short career in the NFL and NFL Europe, he became a detective. Ingoglia returned to football as a broadcaster for UMass games, eventually joining ESPN in 2010. Playing career Ingoglia rushed for 4,623 yards and 54 touchdowns on the ground - school records at the time - while he was twice named an all-American. Brian Joseph Finneran (born January 31, 1976) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League. He was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 1998 and also played for the Barcelona Dragons, Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons. He played college football at Villanova. Lawrence Phillips
Lawrence Lamond Phillips (May 12, 1975 – January 13, 2016) was an American gridiron football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) for three seasons. A highly touted collegiate prospect, Phillips' professional career was cut short by legal troubles that continued up until his death. Phillips won the 1995 Orange Bowl and the 1996 Fiesta Bowl with Nebraska, leading to him being selected sixth overall in the 1996 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams.
