The International Golf Federation (IGF) was founded in 1958 and is the international federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the world governing body for golf. Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) is the umbrella organisation for all (Olympic and non-Olympic) international sports federations as well as organisers of multi-sports games and sport-related international associations. Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation
The Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation, known by the abbreviation APGC, is an Asia-Pacific federation of national golf associations. The APGC organizes the major international amateur championships in the region and promotes golf. History The organization has its beginnings in 1962 during the Eisenhower Trophy in Kawana, Japan, when a tri-nation tournament between the Philippines, Japan and Chinese Taipei was proposed. The inaugural Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship was held 1963 in the Philippines, with a trophy donated by Shun Nomura that became known as the Nomura Cup, and the Amateur Golf Confederation of Asia was formed. Lally Segard
Dorothée Sonia "Lally" Segard (née Vagliano) (4 April 1921 – 3 March 2018), also known as Vicomtesse de Saint Sauveur, was a French amateur golfer. Early life Segard was born in Paris and the oldest of three siblings of a Greek (born in Marseilles, France) father, André Marino Vagliano (1896–1971) and an American mother, Barbara Frances Gallatin Allen (1897–1951), married 1920 in New York. Her brother Alexander (1927–2003) emigrated to the United States in 1940 and later reached a position as executive vice president at JP Morgan & Co. Her father won the French Open Amateur Championship in 1925 and the French Close Amateur in 1930 and 1931. He was also captain of the French National team and on the board of the French Golf Federation where he became the initiator of the PGA of France. Golf At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Golf at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan featured two events, individual competitions for men and women. Golf returned to the Olympics in 2016, for the first time since 1904. The 2020 qualification system and format of the events were the same as used in 2016. 60 players qualified for each event, which consisted of a 72-hole individual stroke play tournament, played over four days. The men's event was played first, starting on 29 July, with the women's event starting on 4 August. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this was played behind closed doors. Venue The tournaments were played on the East course at Kasumigaseki Country Club. Qualification Qualification was based on the world rankings as of 21 June 2021 (men) and 28 June 2021 (women), with a total of 60 players qualifying in each of the men's and women's events.
