WORL (AM)
WORL (950 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Orlando, Florida, United States. It serves Central Florida, including the Greater Orlando radio market. The station is owned by the Salem Media Group and airs a conservative talk radio format known as "AM 950 and FM 94.9 The Answer." WORL’s transmitter power is 12,000 watts by day, and because radio waves travel farther at night, 5,000 watts after sunset to avoid interfering with other stations on AM 950. The transmitter is off Ring Road in Orlando. Programming is also heard on a 225-watt FM translator, 94.9 W235CR in Orlando. Programming WORL carries most of the national Salem Radio Network hosts: Hugh Hewitt, Mike Gallagher, Dennis Prager, Jay Sekulow, Sebastian Gorka, Larry Elder and Charlie Kirk. WDYZ (AM)
WDYZ (660 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Altamonte Springs, Florida, and serving Greater Orlando. The station is owned by JVC Media and airs a hot talk radio format. The studios and offices are in Maitland, Florida. WDYZ's transmitter is off Charles Street in Longwood. The station uses a three-tower array. It transmits with 3,500 watts by day, but because AM 660 is a clear channel frequency reserved for WFAN in New York City, WDYZ must reduce power to 1,000 watts at night. The station uses a directional antenna at all times. Programming is also heard on a 250-watt FM translator, W288CJ on 105.5 MHz in Oviedo. History The station first signed on the air in 1986 as WGOR. WIWA (AM)
WIWA (1270 AM broadcasting, AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Christian talk and teaching format. Licensed to Eatonville, Florida, United States, it serves the Orlando Metropolitan Area, Orlando area. The station is owned by Marc Radio Orlando, LLC. History The station signed on the air as WHIY in 1957 using the slogan "Radio Hi Fi". In 1962, it transitioned to a country music format. In 1978, the station switched callsigns to WORL and adopted an adult contemporary music format, save for a brief period in 1979 with a Disco format as “Studio 13” before returning to AC the same year. By 1986, WORL 1270 was known as "Power Hits ORL". In 1987, the station dropped AC for R&B.
