''Working Man's Café'' is the third studio album by English singer-songwriter Ray Davies released on 22 October 2007 in the UK. A day earlier, on 21 October, a ten track promotional copy of the album (minus bonus tracks "Hymn for a New Age" and "The Real World") was "given away" with the ''Sunday Times'' newspaper in the UK. The album was released in the US on New West Records, New West/Ammal Records on 19 February 2008. The cafe pictured in the artwork iLane Cafe located within walking distance of Konk Studios. Ray Davies
Sir Raymond Douglas Davies ( ; born 21 June 1944) is an English musician. He was the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and main songwriter for the rock band the Kinks, which he led with his younger brother Dave on lead guitar and backing vocals. He has also acted in, directed, and produced shows for theatre and television. Known for focusing his lyrics on English culture, nostalgia, and social satire, he is often referred to as the "Godfather of Britpop", though he disputes this title. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Kinks in 1990. After the dissolution of the Kinks in 1996, he embarked on a solo career. Patrick "Pat" Jay Buchanan is an American guitarist, known for his work with the band Cameo and as a Nashville-based session musician. Biography Early years Buchanan grew up in Jacksonville, Lake City, and Tallahassee, Florida. His father played bass in jazz bands and his mother is a singer. Buchanan started playing guitar while in second or third grade, and played his first gig while attending fourth grade. In the mid 1980s, Buchanan began recording on radio and television jingles in Atlanta, Georgia. Buchanan worked with the band Cameo, touring and participating in the recording of their '' Word Up!'' album. Bill Lloyd (country Musician)
John William Lloyd (born December 6, 1955), known professionally as Bill Lloyd, is an American country music singer-songwriter. From 1987 to 1991, he was one-half of the duo Foster & Lloyd, and a member of The Sky Kings from then until 1997. Foster & Lloyd John William Lloyd was born in Fort Hood, Texas. Due to his father being a member of the military, he moved across the United States frequently as a child. By the early 1980s, Lloyd was living in Tennessee and briefly attended Western Kentucky University before dropping out to pursue a career in music. In 1987, Lloyd joined Radney Foster to form the country duo Foster & Lloyd. They recorded for RCA Records Nashville from then until 1987, charting nine singles on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Songs charts. Michael Edward Cotton (born 12 August 1939) is an English jazz and R&B trumpeter, flugelhornist, harmonicist, vocalist and bandleader born in Tottenham, North London.Larkin, C. ''Virgin Encyclopedia of Sixties Music'' (Muze UK Ltd, 1997), p. 128. He is best known for leading his band under the names The Mike Cotton Jazzmen and The Mike Cotton Sound. Cotton currently plays with the Stars of British Jazz. Career Mike Cotton formed The Mike Cotton Jazzmen in the early 1950s during the "Trad jazz" boom. From 1962 he changed the group's name to The Mike Cotton Sound, and their musical direction to a more pop-based style, achieving a UK chart hit single "Swing That Hammer" that year. Mick Avory
Michael Charles Avory (born 15 February 1944) is an English musician, best known as the longtime drummer and percussionist for the English rock band the Kinks. He joined them shortly after their formation in 1964 and remained with them until 1984, when he left amid creative friction with guitarist Dave Davies. He is the longest-serving member of the band, apart from the Davies brothers. He is also the most prolific member, again apart from the Davies brothers, who has played on twenty studio albums or nearly all of the band's creative output. V2 Records (or V2 Music; V2 being an abbreviation for Virgin 2) is a record label that was purchased by Universal Music Group in 2007 and sold to IASin 2013. In the Benelux, V2 operates separately from PIAS, as the label bought itself out from Universal in 2007. History The label was founded in 1996 by Richard Branson, five years after he sold Virgin Records to EMI. V2 management was led by the same individuals that built Branson's renowned balloon and the control position was held by a Canadian public corporation.
