''Words'' is the debut album by American R&B musician Tony Rich (under the moniker "The Tony Rich Project"), released January 16, 1996 on LaFace Records. The album is produced, written, arranged and performed by Rich. Tony Rich
Antonio Jeffries (born November 19, 1971), better known as Tony Rich and The Tony Rich Project, is an American Grammy-award-winning Contemporary singer-songwriter best known for his hit single "Nobody Knows". Early career Rich was born in Detroit, Michigan, United States, and first attracted attention through the production team of Tim & Bob. The duo convinced Perri "Pebbles" Reid (then the wife of L.A. Reid, co-founder of LaFace Records) to listen to Rich over the phone. Rich was hired as a house songwriter for LaFace Records, penning hit singles for artists such as Toni Braxton, Boyz II Men, TLC, A Few Good Men and Johnny Gill. As incoming Vice President of A&R, Eddie F then convinced L.A. Reid to sign him as an artist. Later, Rich mixed elements of jazz, rock and soul music into his own tracks. ''Muzik'' was a British dance music magazine published by IPC Media from June 1995 to August 2003. ''Muzik'' was created by two former '' Melody Maker'' journalists, Push and Ben Turner. Push was the editor of ''Muzik'' from its launch until he left the magazine in 1998, at which point Turner took over as editor. The title was subsequently edited by Conor McNicholas, who went on to edit '' NME''. Aimed at serious dance music fans rather than weekend clubbers, ''Muzik''s writers included a number of well-known DJs, including Kris Needs, Rob da Bank, Spoony, Terry Farley, Bob Jones, Jonty Skrufff and Dave Mothersole. The magazine sold over 50,000 copies a month at its peak, but was closed down by IPC Media just one issue short of its 100th edition. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data. Honors in several categories are presented at the ceremony annually by The Recording Academy of the United States to "honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position". According to the category description guide for the 54th Grammy Awards, the award is reserved for albums "containing at least 51% playing time of newly recorded contemporary R&B vocal tracks" which may also "incorporate production elements found in rap music". LaFace Records was an American record label based in Atlanta, Georgia, that operated as a unit of Sony Music Entertainment from 2008 to 2011 and was historically a part of Bertelsmann Music Group from 1989 to 2004. It was most active and achieved its greatest commercial success during the 1990s, dealing largely in the field of urban music. It was originally distributed by its co-creator Arista Records from 1989 through 2001, after which it was shuttered and absorbed into Arista. In 2004, the label was rebooted, and it began operating through Jive Records until both were absorbed into RCA Records in 2011.
