Worcester Blades
The Worcester Blades were a professional women's ice hockey team in the Canadian Women's Hockey League, based in Worcester, Massachusetts, and played their home games at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center. The team began play in the 2010–11 CWHL season as the Boston Blades where they won the Clarkson Cup twice, in 2013 and 2015. After playing in several Boston-area arenas throughout its first eight seasons, the Blades moved to Worcester in 2018 and rebranded. In 2019, the CWHL ceased operations, as well as all teams that it directly owned including the Blades. Canadian Women's Hockey League
The Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL; french: Ligue canadienne de hockey féminin ‒ LCHF) was a women's ice hockey league. Established in 2007 as a Canadian women's senior league in the Greater Toronto Area, Montreal, and Ottawa, the league eventually expanded into Alberta, as well as teams in China and the United States throughout its tenure. The league discontinued operations May 1, 2019, after 12 seasons of operations. For most of its existence, it was the highest level women's hockey league in North America while registered as an amateur association. The National Women's Hockey League (now Premier Hockey Federation) was launched as a rival organization, while also paying its players, but with both leagues competing for the same talent. Digit Murphy
Margaret Pearl "Digit" Murphy (née Degidio; born December 7, 1961) is an American ice hockey coach, administrator, and former college ice hockey player. She is president of the Toronto Six of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). Murphy has served as head coach of the Boston Blades, with whom she won two Clarkson Cups, and Kunlun Red Star WIH in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). She served as both head coach and president of the Toronto Six in the NWHL during the team’s inaugural season. Prior to joining the Blades, she was the head coach of the Brown Bears women's ice hockey program. She became the winningest coach in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey history during her 18th season at Brown (2006–07). She finished her NCAA coaching career with 318 wins. 2013–14 CWHL Season
The 2013–14 CWHL season was the seventh in league history. The Montreal Stars finished as regular season champions while the top four leading scorers in the regular season are all Stars players (Ann-Sophie Bettez, Sarah Vaillancourt, Vanessa Davidson and Cathy Chartrand). The Toronto Furies won the 2014 Clarkson Cup, making them the first team to finish in fourth place during the regular season to claim the Cup. 2013 Clarkson Cup
The 2013 Clarkson Cup is a women's ice hockey tournament that was contested in Markham, Ontario to determine the champion of the Canadian Women's Hockey League from March 20 to March 23, 2013. The Boston Blades defeated the Montreal Stars by a 5-2 tally to claim their first title in team history. The tournament was played at Markham Centennial Centre. 2011–12 CWHL Season
The 2011–12 CWHL season was the fifth in league history. Regular season play begun on October 22, 2011, as the defending champion Montreal Stars hosted the Brampton Thunder. The league expanded from five teams to six as Team Alberta (CWHL) joined the league for competitive play. The 2012 Clarkson Cup in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Niagara Falls was also contested between the Stars and Thunder, with Montreal winning its second consecutive title. 2011 Clarkson Cup
The 2011 Clarkson Cup was contested at the Barrie Molson Centre in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The four competing teams included three from the Canadian Women's Hockey League and one from the Western Women's Hockey League. All teams played each other in a round robin Thursday March 24 through Saturday March 26, with the top two teams meeting in the final Sunday March 27. In 2010 the tournament consisted of just two semi-finals and a final. A change to the format this year has made the tournament longer. Qualification The top four teams from the CWHL competed in a tournament based on seedings. Seeds were determined by standings at end of regular season play. The Boston Pride are a professional women's ice hockey team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They are one of the four charter franchises of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), formerly the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL; 2015–2021).
