Wop Glover
Harry "Wop" Glover was a college football player and coach. He attended University preparatory school at Saint Stanislaus College, playing for the "Rock-a-chaws." Glover played for the Tulane Green Wave football team, once the team's leading rusher in a Rose Bowl. He is in the Tulane Hall of Fame. He won the Porter Cup The Porter Cup is a 72-hole, medal-play elite amateur golf tournament held annually at the Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, New York. The Tulane Green Wave football team represents Tulane University in the sport of American football. Halfback (American Football)
A halfback (HB) is an offensive position in American football, whose duties involve lining up in the offensive backfield and carrying the ball on most rushing plays, i.e. a running back. When the principal ball carrier lines up deep in the backfield, and especially when that player is placed behind another player (usually a blocking back), as in the I formation, that player is instead referred to as a tailback. Saint Stanislaus College
St. Stanislaus College (SSC) is a Catholic day and boarding school for boys in grades 7–12. It has been owned and operated by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart order since 1854. It is located about an hour's drive outside New Orleans in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. Porter Cup (trophy)
The Porter Cup was a sterling silver loving cup trophy once awarded by the Porter Clothing Company to the best all-around athlete from a major southern university, including the University of Alabama, Birmingham-Southern College, Tulane and Tennessee's three major universities: Vanderbilt, Sewanee and Tennessee. The three in Tennessee were given by Alf Porter, and Alabama's was given by Henry Porter Loving. Alabama's is thus also called the "Porter Loving Cup".
