Woodvale is a locality in the City of Greater Bendigo, in the Australian state of Victoria (Australia), Victoria. History Woodvale was first occupied by the Dja Dja Wurrung people who called the area "Nerring". European settlement in Woodvale began in 1845 when the locality was located in Myers Flat, Victoria, Myers Flat, Then known as "Myers Creek". Bendigo East is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It covers an area of covering the part of the city of Bendigo east of the Yungera railway line and surrounding rural areas to the north, east and south. The City of Greater Bendigo is a local government area in Victoria, Australia, located in the central part of the state. It covers an area of and, in June 2021, had a population of 123,632. It includes the city of Bendigo and the towns of Axedale, Elmore, Heathcote, Marong, Raywood and Strathfieldsaye. Dja Dja Wurrung (Pronounced Ja-Ja-war-rung), also known as the Djaara or Jajowrong people and Loddon River tribe, are an Aboriginal Australian people who are the Traditional owners of lands including the watersheds of the Loddon and Avoca rivers in the Bendigo region of central Victoria, Australia. They are part of the Kulin alliance of Aboriginal Victorian peoples. There are 16 clans, which adhere to a patrilineal system. Like other Kulin peoples, there are two moieties: Bunjil the eagle and Waa the crow. Name The Dja Dja Wurrung ethnonym is often analysed as a combination of a word for "yes" (''djadja'', dialect variants such as ''yeye'' /''yaya'', are perhaps related to this) and "mouth" (''wurrung''). Myers Flat, Victoria
Myers Flat is a locality in the City of Greater Bendigo in the Australian state of Victoria. Myers Flat was named after Thomas Myers who was the co-proprietor of the Weddikar pastoral run. History European settlement began in Myers Flat, then known as "Myers Creek", in 1845. Gold was first discovered in Myers Flat in 1852. School and church On 16 July 1860, John Starkey opened a building that served as Myers Flat's church and school. This was demolished and replaced in 1864 by St Augustine's Catholic Church. Built in the German Gothic style, the church was opened on 6 November 1864 by the Very Reverend Dean Hayes: a plaque commemorates the event.
