Meductic, New Brunswick
Meductic is a small village located along the Saint John River in southern New Brunswick, approximately 33 kilometres southeast of Woodstock. Meductic's mayor is Lance Royden Graham. History During the Expulsion of the Acadians, the village was burned in the St. John River Campaign (1758). Until the 18th century, Meductic was the largest settlement of the Wolastoqiyik people. Woodstock is a town in Carleton County, New Brunswick, Canada on the Saint John River, 103 km upriver from Fredericton at the mouth of the Meduxnekeag River. Meduxnekeag River
The Meduxnekeag River ( ) is a tributary of the Saint John River. It is about long. The North Branch Meduxnekeag River rises from the outlet of a small pond () in Maine and runs to its confluence with the Meduxnekeag in Wakefield, New Brunswick. The South Branch Meduxnekeag River rises from the outflow of Johnson Pond () in Linneus, and runs to its confluence with the Meduxnekeag River two miles upstream from Houlton, Maine. The Meduxnekeag joins the Saint John in Woodstock, New Brunswick. The earliest mention of the name is in the narrative of John Gyles. He states that in 1689 he visited a branch of the St. John river about ten miles to a branch called Medeockseenecasis. Pokiok, New Brunswick
Pokiok is a rural community in York County, New Brunswick, Canada. Situated on the west bank of the Saint John River, west of Fredericton, and west of Nackawic-Millville, the community is home to the Pokiok Falls, which were created by the Pokiok Stream emptying over a ledge into the Saint John River. The Pokiok Falls were a local tourist attraction until construction of the Mactaquac Dam in 1967 saw them flooded by the rising reservoir.
