Woodhill is a suburb of Whangārei, in Northland Region, New Zealand. It is about 1.5 kilometres southwest of the city centre. State Highway 1 runs through Woodhill, bypassing the CBD, and State Highway 14 ends at an intersection with SH1. Whangarei Hospital is on SH14 between Woodhill and Horahora. HM Prison Woodhill is a Category A male prison, located in Milton Keynes, England. Woodhill Prison is operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. A section of the prison is designated as a Young Offenders Institution. A Secure Training Centre is located next to the prison. Woodhill is a locality in the Auckland Region of New Zealand. It is in the ''Western Ward'' of the Rodney District. Woodhill is approximately 6 kilometres northwest of Waimauku and 10 km south of Helensville on State Highway 16. The North Auckland Line passes through the area. The Woodhill Forest lies to the west. History The railway line reached Woodhill in the 1880s, and allowed expansion of the existing farming settlement. Ambury's Creamery shipped the cream by rail to be made into butter in Auckland. A post office was established, and a store opened up opposite the creamery, becoming a social centre until it was destroyed by fire about 1970. The Woodhill Hall was another centre for social gatherings. It contained a library in the late 1920s, and was also used for church services. Constance Caroline Woodhill Naden (24 January 185823 December 1889) was an English writer, poet and philosopher. She studied, wrote and lectured on philosophy and science, alongside publishing two volumes of poetry. Several collected works were published following her death at the young age of 31. In her honour, Robert Lewins established the Constance Naden Medal and had a bust of her installed at Mason Science College (now the University of Birmingham). William Ewart Gladstone considered her one of the nineteenth century's foremost female poets. Woodhill is a settlement in Angus, Scotland. It lies at a central point between Carnoustie and Monifieth on the east on an unclassified road linking the A92 and A930 roads. Woodhill House was erected in 1604 by William Auchinleck, who later became Provost of Dundee. It was demolished and rebuilt in 1908. The area has been occupied since the Neolithic period, as evidenced by a Cursus monument, identified from cropmarks, as well as Bronze Age short cist burials that are found periodically.
