Henry Sampson Woodfall
Henry Sampson Woodfall (21 June 173912 December 1805) was an English printer and journalist. He was born and lived in London. Biography Woodfall's grandfather Henry Woodfall (c. 1686–1747), was the author of the ballad ''Darby and Joan'', for which John Darby and his wife were the originals: the elder Woodfall had been apprenticed in 1701 to Darby, a printer in Bartholomew Close in the Little Britain area of London, who died in 1730. Woodfall's grandfather printed many of the works of Alexander Pope. Woodfall's uncle George was a bookseller in Charing Cross. His father, Henry Woodfall (1713–1769), was the printer of the newspaper the ''Public Advertiser'', and Woodfall was apprenticed to his father. At the age of nineteen, Woodfall took over the control of the newspaper. In it appeared, between 21 January 1769 and 21 January 1772, the famous letters of Junius. William Woodfall

Life William's father, Henry Woodfall, printed and published the ''Public Advertiser''. William served an apprenticeship with bookseller Richard Baldwin after attending St. Paul's School, London, and Tonbridge School, where his nickname was "Memory Woodfall". Following his father's retirement, Woodfall shared the running of the ''Public Advertiser'' with his brother Henry Sampson Woodfall. William edited the ''London Packet'' from 1772 to 1774, then joined the ''Morning Chronicle'' as publisher, editor, and reporter. In 1770 London papers began to report Parliamentary debates fully, against the rules of the House of Commons. Woodfall published long reports of over 17,000 words, often copied by other papers. George Woodfall
George Woodfall (1767–1844) was an English printer. Life The son of Henry Sampson Woodfall, he was his father's partner in the printing business till December 1793, when the father retired. George Woodfall later moved to Angel Court, Snow Hill, where he carried on business till 1840, when his eldest son, Henry Dick Woodfall, fifth in a line of printers, became his partner. When Friedrich König, inventor of the steam printing-press, was in London in 1806, Thomas Bensley brought his fellow-printers Woodfall and Richard Taylor into a consortium to develop a press. Woodfall, however, failed to see the potential. Woodfall was often chosen chairman at the meetings of the London master-printers. In 1812 he was elected a stock-keeper of the Stationers' Company; in 1825 member of the court of assistants, and master of the company in 1833–4. Henry Dick Woodfall
Henry Dick Woodfall (1796 – April 13, 1869) was an English businessman. Together with John Rice Crowe, he founded Alten Copper Works in Kåfjord, Norway, later renamed the Kåfjord Copper Works. Henry Woodfall was born in Scotland in 1796, the son of the printer George Woodfall, whose business he inherited. After relocating to Norway, he had a relationship with a local woman, Ane Helene Johannesdotter Muotka, and their son Salamon Woodfall was born in 1831. As director of Alten Copper Works, Woodfall was skeptical of bringing labor from England because he believed that the work was better served by building up a permanent mining community with Norwegian workers. He was also concerned that the mining company should take care of the miners and their families, and together with Crowe he founded Kåfjord as a society with a number of welfare services for the growing local population. Woodfall Film Productions
Woodfall Film Productions was a British film production company established in the late 1950s. It was established by Tony Richardson, John Osborne and Harry Saltzman to make a screen adaptation of Osborne's best known play. The film version of ''Look Back in Anger'', directed by Richardson and produced by Saltzman, was released in 1959. Following its critical success, Woodfall, under the effective control of Richardson, produced several of the most significant British films of the 1960s. These include ''Saturday Night and Sunday Morning'' (1960), ''A Taste of Honey'' (1961) and ''The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner'' (1962). A later Woodfall film, '' Tom Jones'' (1963), won four Academy Awards in 1964. According to film director Desmond Davis, Woodfall Films brought a new era of realism to British films, strongly influenced by the French ''nouvelle vague''.
