Woo Woo
A woo woo (also called teeny weeny woo woo) is an alcoholic beverage made of vodka, peach schnapps, and cranberry juice. It is typically served as a cocktail in a highball glass or can be served as a shot. It can also be served in a rocks glass. The ingredients are usually shaken together with ice or stirred as preferred. A lime wedge is used as a garnish. The drink became popular in the 1980s along with other cocktails containing peach schnapps such as the Fuzzy Navel and Silk Panties. Writing on the then-recent rise of peach schnapps in ''Esquire'' for March 1988, food and drink writer William Grimes commented: The woo woo is a relative of the Cape Codder (vodka and cranberry juice) and both have shared highball relatives in the Sea Breeze, the Bay Breeze, the Madras, and Sex on the Beach. Woo-Woo (song)
"Woo-Woo" is the B-side of the 78-rpm jazz instrumental single recorded on February 1, 1939, by Harry James and The Boogie Woogie Trio. Shortly after leaving Benny Goodman's band and before starting his own band, James entered the studio at the suggestion of Columbia Records producer John Hammond. James was paired with Albert Ammons (on "Woo-Woo") and Pete Johnson (on the flip side's " Boo-Woo"), the two foremost practitioners of boogie-woogie piano, which was enjoying a substantial revival at the time. They were accompanied by Johnny Williams on bass and Eddie Dougherty on drums. The group recorded four songs during this February 1, 1939, recording session in New York City: "Boo-Woo", "Woo-Woo", "Home, James", and "Jesse". Ronnie Woo Woo
Ronnie "Woo Woo" Wickers (born October 31, 1941) is a longtime Chicago Cubs fan and local celebrity in the Chicago area. He is known to Wrigley Field visitors for his idiosyncratic cheers at baseball games, generally punctuated with an exclamatory "Woo!" (e.g., "Cubs, woo! Cubs, woo! Big-Z, woo! Zambrano, woo! Cubs, woo!") Longtime Cubs announcer Harry Caray dubbed Wickers "Leather Lungs" for his ability to shout for hours at a time. Wickers grew up on the South Side of Chicago. Born premature and abused by his mother, he was raised by his grandmother, who brought him to his first Chicago Cubs games during the late 1940s. Wickers explained in a 2004 '' Chicago Tribune'' interview that he started "wooing" in 1958 or 1959. "It just came to be. I had fun with it," he remarked. James Randi
James Randi (born Randall James Hamilton Zwinge; August 7, 1928 – October 20, 2020) was a Canadian-American stage magician, author and scientific skeptic who extensively challenged paranormal and pseudoscientific claims. Kitchen Party, formerly known as WooWoos, were a British girl group from London comprising Jessica M-C, Alice Rhodes, and Tanisha Spring.
