Mind If We Make Love To You
''Mind If We Make Love to You'' is an album by the American power pop group Wondermints. It was released in 2002 on Smile Records. The album title, with its intentional lack of punctuation, is a take-off of ''Mind If I Make Love to You'', an album of 1950s cocktail instrumentals in Darian Sahanaja's record collection. Multiple configurations of the album have been released, in different parts of the world. Some pressings contain outtakes from the album sessions as well as Wondermints' cover of The Beatles' "Getting Better", which was originally submitted for use in a Philips commercial; the submission was rejected in favor of Gomez's version. Critical reception ''PopMatters'' wrote that the songs "are more celebration than innovation, simple pleasures arranged in complex manner that delight the ear." The ''Sun Sentinel'' wrote that the band sounds "like a cross between Cheap Trick and the Beatles due to their love of power-pop harmonies and trippy lyrics." Track listing # "O ...

In the early 1980s, he became obsessed with the band's unfinished ''Smile'' album after hearing an unreleased version of the song " Wonderful". Sahanaja stated that it "pretty much changed my life." He said, "When I met Nick Walusko, who I formed the Wondermints with, one of the first things we bonded over was ''Smile'' bootlegs. We got to know usic historianDomenic Priore and a small ...

Brian Wilson Presents Smile
''Brian Wilson Presents Smile'' (also referred to as ''Smile'' or the abbreviation ''BWPS'') is the fifth studio album by American musician Brian Wilson, released on September 28, 2004 on Nonesuch. It features all-new recordings of music that he had originally created for ''Smile'', an unfinished album by the Beach Boys that he abandoned in 1967. Revisiting ''Smile'' was an intense emotional undertaking for Wilson, as he had been deeply traumatized by the circumstances that had originally surrounded the project. Wilson initially agreed to revisit ''Smile'' in the form of a live concert performance as a follow-up to his 2000–2002 ''Pet Sounds'' tour. From October to November 2003, he worked with keyboardist Darian Sahanaja and original lyricist Van Dyke Parks in assembling a three-movement structure for ''BWPS'' while embellishing the material with newly written lyrics and melodies. Wilson and his band premiered it at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 20, 2004. ...

Brian Wilson
Brian Douglas Wilson (born June 20, 1942) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer who co-founded the Beach Boys. Often called a genius for his novel approaches to pop composition, extraordinary musical aptitude, and mastery of recording techniques, he is widely acknowledged as one of the most innovative and significant songwriters of the 20th century. His best-known work is distinguished for its high production values, complex harmonies and orchestrations, layered vocals, and introspective or ingenuous themes. Wilson is also known for his formerly high-ranged singing and for his lifelong struggles with mental illness. Raised in Hawthorne, California, Wilson's formative influences included George Gershwin, the Four Freshmen, Phil Spector, and Burt Bacharach. In 1961, he began his professional career as a member of the Beach Boys, serving as the band's songwriter, producer, co-lead vocalist, bassist, keyboardist, and ''de facto'' leader. Love (band)
Love is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965. Led by frontman and primary songwriter Arthur Lee, they were one of the first racially diverse American rock bands. Their sound incorporated an eclectic range of styles including garage, folk-rock, blues, jazz, and psychedelia. While finding only modest success on the music charts, peaking in 1966 with their Top 40 hit "7 and 7 Is", Love would come to be praised by critics as their third album, ''Forever Changes'' (1967), became generally regarded as one of the best albums of the 1960s. The band's classic lineup is considered to consist of frontman Lee, guitarist/singer Bryan MacLean, bassist Ken Forssi, guitarist Johnny Echols, and drummer Alban "Snoopy" Pfisterer. By 1968, only Lee remained and he continued recording as Love with varied members through the 1970s. MacLean and Forssi died in 1998. Lee died in 2006. ''Forever Changes'' was added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2011. In rec ...

Live At The Roxy Theatre
''Live at the Roxy Theatre'' is a live album released by Brian Wilson in 2000. After a successful period of touring following the release of '' Imagination'', Wilson decided to record his first-ever live solo album. Accompanied by his supporting band, Wilson recorded the album during a pair of shows at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood. While the album includes performances of several of Wilson's old Beach Boys favorites, there are a few surprises amid the well-known classics. Wilson takes the opportunity to introduce two songs: "The First Time" and "This Isn't Love" (itself a collaboration with ''Pet Sounds'' lyricist Tony Asher). In addition, in a moment of humor, the flesh and blood Wilson sings a portion of Barenaked Ladies' song " Brian Wilson". Because of Wilson's continuing ease in front of audiences, and the confident performances throughout, ''Live at the Roxy Theatre'' received positive reviews upon release. ''Live at the Roxy Theatre'' was initially and exclusi ...

Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin
''Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin'' is the eighth studio album by Brian Wilson, released on August 17, 2010 by Walt Disney Records as part of the Disney Pearl Series. The album consists of covers of ten George and Ira Gershwin songs, bookended by passages from ''Rhapsody in Blue'', along with two new songs completed from unfinished Gershwin fragments by Wilson and band member Scott Bennett. The cover artwork is an homage to the album cover for the 1958 jazz LP '' Sonny Clark Trio'' by Sonny Clark. Background In the summer of 2009, Walt Disney Records approached Wilson about recording his own arrangements of songs from Disney films; however, Wilson first wanted to record an album of Gershwin covers, which the label agreed to support. He and band member Paul Mertens picked the songs to record based on Wilson's vocal range, and which ones he thought he could sing "appropriately." In addition to the covers, the Gershwin estate granted Wilson access to over 100 unfinished Gershwi ...
