Wonderful Town (film)
''Wonderful Town'' is a 2007 Thai film written and directed by Aditya Assarat. The film is set on the mainland north of Phuket Island in the dreary post-tsunami Khao Lak area and Takua Pa town, Phang Nga Province. Shooting was completed in December 2006, for which Aditya had secured funding from Singha Beer and Rolex. More money was needed for post-production work, funds were provided by the Thailand Ministry of Culture's Office of Contemporary Art and Culture. ''Wonderful Town'' premiered at the 2007 Busan International Film Festival. It won the festival's top prize, the New Currents Award and a US$90,000 prize, which was split evenly with two other filmmakers who also won the award, Malaysian director Liew Seng Tat, who won for his film '' Flower in the Pocket'', and Guang Hao-jin of China, for his film '' Life Track''. The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF, previously Pusan International Film Festival, PIFF), held annually in Haeundae-gu, Busan (''also'' Pusan), South Korea, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. Flower In The Pocket () is a 2007 Malaysian independent film directed by Liew Seng Tat. The film is produced by Da Huang Pictures. Plot Li Ahh (Lim Ming Wei) and Li Ohm (Wong Zi Jiang) grow up motherless. Their father Sui ( James Lee) is a workaholic who spends most of his time mending broken mannequins. Sui is an outsider to the two boys, the only legacy left by the woman he loved, or still loves. While he shuts himself out from the world, the two brothers grow up with all the freedom of neglected children. They roam the streets; get into fights and other trouble in school. Along the way, they adopt a stray puppy, which becomes the most important thing in their lives. When the puppy is sent away for being a nuisance, the boys are devastated. Sui is very much affected by his boys' strong emotional attachment to the puppy. Liew Seng Tat (born 30 September 1979) is a Malaysian filmmaker based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Early life Liew Seng Tat was born in an area of Kuala Lumpur called Jinjang. He graduated from the Multimedia University in Cyberjaya, majoring in 3D animation. Film career Seng Tat has been actively involved in the Malaysian independent film scene since 2003. His first live-action short film "Bread skin with Strawberry Jam" garnered much attention and won at the 8th Malaysian Video Awards. Post-production is part of the process of filmmaking, video production, audio production, and photography.
