Women's Wares
''Women's Wares'' is a 1927 American silent romantic drama film directed by Arthur Gregor and starring Evelyn Brent. Plot Salesgirl Dolly Morton becomes disillusioned about men after an incident with her boyfriend, so she becomes, with the help of her roommate, a gold digger who takes advantage of men without giving anything in return. However, after the gift of an apartment from a millionaire only results in scorn towards her, she decides to return to her original boyfriend. Sylvia Ashton
Sylvia Ashton (January 26, 1880 – November 18, 1940) was an American film actress of the silent film era. Ashton was born in Denver, Colorado. She bore a heavyset resemblance to Jane Darwell and like Darwell was playing mother and grandmother roles, though more famously than Darwell in the silents, while still in her 30s and 40s. In 1912, Ashton was an actress in D.W. Griffith's stock company. After that, she acted for Famous Players-Lasky. For years she was a regular member of Cecil B. DeMille's troupe of character actors. She appeared in more than 130 films between 1912 and 1929. She retired from movies almost immediately at the dawn of sound, one of her later films being the part-sound film ''The Barker'' (1928). Ashton died on November 18, 1940, aged 60. BFI National Archive
The BFI National Archive is a department of the British Film Institute, and one of the largest film archives in the world. It was founded as the National Film Library in 1935; its first curator was Ernest Lindgren. In 1955, its name became the National Film Archive, and, in 1992, the National Film and Television Archive. It was renamed BFI National Archive in 2006. It collects, preserves, restores, and shares the films and television programmes which have helped to shape and record British life and times since the development of cine film in the late 19th century. The majority of the collection is British originated material, but it also features internationally significant holdings from around the world.
