Wollongong Warriors
The Wollongong Warriors Quidditch Club (WWQC) is the muggle quidditch club of the University of Wollongong, in New South Wales, Australia. Wollongong Warriors are a part of the Australian Quidditch Association (AQA), the governing body of Australian Quidditch, which is a constituent part of the International Quidditch Association (IQA). History In the book Quidditch Through the Ages, by J.K Rowling, the Wollongong Warriors are listed as one of Australia's premier Quidditch teams. They have a fierce rivalry with the Thundelarra Thunderers, and are the inventors of the Wollongong Shimmy, a high-speed zig-zag move designed to confuse and distract opposing Chasers. Australian Quidditch Association
Quidditch in Australia is played by a mixture of university and community teams. Due to the geographic demographics of the country, most major competitive tournaments are held in the eastern states. There are currently over 30 registered teams in the country. Organisations Quidditch in Australia is governed by Quidditch Australia (formerly the Australian Quidditch Association), a non-profit organisation founded in 2011 as a Facebook group intended to act as a network for quidditch teams and players within Australia to communicate with one another. The International Quidditch Association (IQA), also known as the International Quadball Association, is the governing body for the sport of quidditch. It was founded as the Intercollegiate Quidditch Association in 2009 following the very first intercollegiate quidditch match. In 2010, the IQA added the "international" term to its name, and 2016 saw its induction as an international sports federation with its creation of the Congress. It now comprises more than ten national associations governing quidditch in their respective nations. Quidditch, also known as quadball, is a sport of two teams of seven players each mounted on a broomstick, and is played on a hockey rink-sized pitch. The sport was created in 2005 at Middlebury College in Vermont, and was inspired by the fictional game Quidditch in the ''Harry Potter'' books by author J. K. Rowling. ''Quidditch Through the Ages'' is a 2001 book written by British author J. K. Rowling using the pseudonym of Kennilworthy Whisp about Quidditch in the ''Harry Potter'' universe. It purports to be the Hogwarts library's copy of the non-fiction book of the same name mentioned in several novels of the ''Harry Potter'' series. The book benefits the BBC affiliated charity Comic Relief. Over 80% of the cover price of each book sold goes directly to poor children in various places around the world. Thundelarra
Thundelarra is a conservation reserve that was previously run as a pastoral lease in Western Australia, located south east of Yalgoo and north of Dalwallinu in the Murchison region. Description It was a traditional sheep station until having the lease transferred to a nature conservation estate in 2006. It is recognised as an important parcel of land that links the western and eastern end of other conservation estates, also once pastoral leases, which were purchased since 1995. The area lies in the Yalgoo IBRA region and is characterised by open mulga woodlands and sandy scrubland. The area is rich in ephemerals and is noted for its rich wildflower displays in spring. Quidditch is a fictional sport invented by author J.K. Rowling for her fantasy book series ''Harry Potter''. It first appeared in the novel '' Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'' (1997). It is a dangerous but popular sport played by witches and wizards riding flying broomsticks. Matches are played on a large oval pitch with three ring-shaped goals of different heights on each side, between two opposing teams of seven players each: three Chasers, two Beaters, the Keeper, and the Seeker.
