Wolftracks
''Wolftracks'' is the tenth album by John Kay and Steppenwolf, released in 1982 (see 1982 in music). It was originally released only in Canada and Australia. The album was the first new studio album in six years for John Kay, featuring a new line-up of Steppenwolf and Kay renaming the group accordingly. Background In 1980, John Kay reclaimed the Steppenwolf name, touring as “John Kay & Steppenwolf.” The album ''Wolftracks'', the first after the band reformed, was recorded "live" in the studio on a 2-track digital recorder, which was then a new medium. Steppenwolf (band)
Steppenwolf was an American-Canadian rock band that was prominent from 1968 to 1972. The group was formed in late 1967 in Los Angeles by lead singer John Kay, keyboardist Goldy McJohn, and drummer Jerry Edmonton, all formerly of the Canadian band the Sparrows. Guitarist Michael Monarch and bass guitarist Rushton Moreve were recruited via notices placed in Los Angeles-area record and musical instrument stores. Steppenwolf sold over 25 million records worldwide, released seven gold albums and one platinum album, and had 13 ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles, of which seven were Top 40 hits, including three top 10 successes: "Born to Be Wild", " Magic Carpet Ride", and " Rock Me". Steppenwolf enjoyed worldwide success from 1968 to 1972, but clashing personalities led to the end of the core lineup. George Biondo
George Michael Biondo (born September 3, 1945) is a musician who served as bass guitarist of the Canadian rock band Steppenwolf from April 1970 to October 1976. Born in New York, Biondo has been based in Southern California throughout a career as a session musician and songwriter. Early career Biondo played bass in a Los Angeles area band called Storybook People during which time they released a single on Dunhill Records, which received limited airplay in Los Angeles. In 1968, Biondo replaced Nick St. Nicholas in another Los Angeles area band called T.I.M.E., when St. Nicholas departed for Steppenwolf. After T.I.M.E. guitarist Larry Byrom also left to join Steppenwolf, T.I.M.E. briefly attempted to carry on with Biondo as lead singer, but never released any further recordings. John Kay (born Joachim Fritz Krauledat; 12 April 1944) is a German-born American rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist known as the frontman of Steppenwolf. Early life He was born in Tilsit, East Prussia, Germany (now Sovetsk, Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia).Edwardson, Ryan. Their train got stuck near Arnstadt, which was first occupied by the Americans, but then became part of the East German Soviet occupation zone. ''Skullduggery'' is the ninth studio album by Canadian-American rock band Steppenwolf. The album was released in May 1976, by Epic Records. It was the third of four released by Epic Records, and the last to feature keyboardist Wayne Cook, who left to join Player in 1977. Brett Tuggle
Brett Tuggle (September 23, 1951 – June 19, 2022) was an American musician who is best known for his keyboard playing with Fleetwood Mac and the David Lee Roth band. Career Early years As a child, he studied classical piano and learned guitar and organ in his birthplace of Denver, Colorado. As a teenager, he played in local Denver bands. When he left home, he played in touring bands in Texas, where he learned a range of traditional music styles. He then returned to Colorado where he launched the band Head First. In 1979, record producer Keith Olsen invited Tuggle to go to Los Angeles to meet an artist who needed a keyboard player. Performing In Los Angeles, Tuggle made numerous professional contacts with bandleaders, which helped to start his touring career. Michael Wilk
Michael John Wilk (born ''circa'' 1961 in Chicopee, Massachusetts) is an American keyboardist, songwriter, and record producer best known for his contributions to John Kay and Steppenwolf largely as a keyboardist and bass player. He has also worked with Boz Scaggs, Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, Billy Burnette, Phil Seymour, Danny Hutton, the Pointer Sisters, Tom Scott, and the actor Scott Baio. Working with Steve Cropper of Booker T. & the M.G.'s and the Blues Brothers, Wilk performed and recorded the music for the movie '' Satisfaction''. Wilk also worked on the ''Pretty In Pink'' soundtrack and has worked on television commercials.
