Wolaita Sodo City Football Club (Amharic: ወላይታ ሶዶ ከተማ እግር ኳስ ክለብ) or in short Sodo City Football Club is an Ethiopian football club based in Wolaita Sodo. Wolaita Sodo City F.C. was officially established in 2011. The club is a member of the Ethiopian Football Federation and plays in the Ethiopian Higher League, the second order professional football competition in Ethiopia. Sodo City F.c. is one of the leading clubs in Wolayita Zone, which is known for recruiting young football players. History In 2021/22 season the club board solved the financial problems in the club, which created the survival of the club in the league in question. They worked in adjusting the goal to transforming re-recruiting new players from youth project. After the problem solved the team has battled in the second round, and this helped the club to survive in the Ethiopian Higher League. Sodo Stadium or Wolaita Sodo Studium is an Ethiopian multi-use stadium located in Wolaita, Southern Ethiopia. It is primarily utilized for sporting events and acts as Wolaita Dicha and Wolaita Sodo City F.C.'s home stadium. Sodo ( am, ሶዶ) or Wolaita Sodo ( am, ወላይታ ሶዶ) or (Wolaitta language, Wolaytatto: ''Wolayta Sodo Ambbaa'') is a city in south-central Ethiopia. The administrative center of the Wolaita Zone. The Ethiopian Higher League (Amharic: የኢትዮጵያ ከፍተኛ ሊግ), also called the Ethiopian Super League, is the second division of association football in Ethiopia. Regulated by the Ethiopian Football Federation, the league is divided into three groups (Group A, Group B, and Group C) with 12 clubs in each group. It operates on a system of promotion and relegation along with the Ethiopian Premier League (first division) and the Ethiopian First League (third division). The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) (Amharic: የኢትዮጵያ እግር ኳስ ፌዴሬሽን) is the governing body of football in Ethiopia. It organizes all tiers of the national football league and the national team. It was one of the founding members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). History The Ethiopian Football Federation was founded in 1943 and became affiliated with FIFA in 1952. Wolayita or Wolaita is an administrative zone in Ethiopia. It is named for the Welayta people, whose homeland is in the zone. Wolayita is bordered on the south by Gamo Gofa, on the west by the Omo River which separates it from Dawro, on the northwest by Kembata Tembaro, on the north by Hadiya, on the northeast by the Oromia Region, on the east by the Bilate River which separates it from Sidama Region, and on the south east by the Lake Abaya which separates it from Oromia Region.
