Woking F.C.
Woking Football Club is a professional association football club, based in Woking, Surrey, England. Founded in 1887, the club plays its home matches at The Laithwaite Community Stadium and is nicknamed the Cardinals, often shortened to the Cards. Currently, they compete in having been promoted from the National League South in the 2018–19 season. History Early years Woking Football Club was founded in 1887. The club joined the West Surrey League in 1895–96, winning the title by one point. However, within 21 years of being formed, the club was in danger of folding for financial reasons. The turning point came when, in January 1908, Woking played Bolton Wanderers in the First Round of the FA Cup, having made it through five qualifying rounds. Despite losing the away game 5–0, the club made it into the national news. The Laithwaite Community Stadium
Kingfield Stadium, currently known as The Laithwaite Community Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is the home of Woking F.C. in the Kingfield area of Woking, Surrey which has a capacity of approximately 6,000, of which, 2,500 are seated on grandstands. Stands The stadium has a number of structures, built at different times during its history. Leslie Gosden Stand The main stand, called the Leslie Gosden Stand, is the tallest structure on the ground. It has entirely covered seating. The stand was built in 1995 using financing from Woking Borough Council and represented the first of four phases of development. Other stands Opposite the Leslie Gosden Stand is the Kingfield Road End, which is a covered terrace. Tim Buzaglo
Tim Buzaglo (born 20 June 1961, in Surbiton) is a British footballer and cricketer. Football Buzaglo is a former semi-professional footballer for Woking. He played as a striker, his moment of glory came in the FA Cup Third Round in 1991 at West Bromwich Albion. Trailing 1–0 at half time, Buzaglo scored a hat-trick in the second half to help Woking to a 4–2 win. In the Fourth Round tie, Woking narrowly lost 1–0 to Everton. Buzaglo was placed in the FA's Team of Heroes to commemorate 125 years of the FA Cup in 2006. Soon afterwards, Buzaglo suffered a serious injury, and he left Woking after a failed comeback attempt. Clive Walker (born 25 June 1957 in Oxford, England) is an English retired footballer. His playing career spanned some 1,000 league and cup games for Chelsea, Sunderland, Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion before enjoying a renaissance in the Conference with Woking and Cheltenham Town. Playing career Chelsea Walker was an old-fashioned winger with pace who used to terrorise full backs on a weekly basis. He began his career with Chelsea, playing in the same side as the likes of Ray Wilkins. He first broke into the Chelsea team during the 1977–78 season, but they were in the Second Division for most of his time there. Kevin Sheedy (Irish Footballer)
Kevin Mark Sheedy (born 21 October 1959) is a football coach and former Republic of Ireland international player. He spent the largest portion of his playing career with Everton – with whom he won the FA Cup, European Cup Winners' Cup and two Football League titles – and also played for Hereford United, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Blackpool. Born in Builth Wells, Wales, he played 46 times for the Republic of Ireland national team and scored the country's first ever goal in a FIFA World Cup finals. Playing career Club career After playing for Hereford Lads Club as a boy, Sheedy started his career with Hereford United, followed by a short spell with Liverpool, but played just three competitive games in four years and was sold to Everton for £100,000 in 1982. Goodison Park is a football stadium in the Walton area of Liverpool, England. It has been the home stadium of Premier League club Everton F.C. since its completion in 1892.
