Wojciech Nowicki
Wojciech Nowicki (; born 22 February 1989) is a Polish hammer thrower. He won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics and bronze medals at the 2016 Summer Olympics, 2015, 2017 and 2019 World Championships. His personal best in the event is 82.52 metres set in 2021 at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Career Nowicki achieved his personal best, 78.71 metres, on 3 May 2015. In August of the same year, he won the bronze medal in the hammer throw event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China. He placed third again at the two subsequent World Championships ( London 2017 and Doha 2019). In July 2016, Nowicki took bronze at the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In August, he was awarded the bronze medal in the hammer throw at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Białystok
Białystok is the largest city in northeastern Poland and the capital of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. The men's hammer throw at the 2022 World Athletics Championships was held at the Hayward Field in Eugene on 15 and 16 July 2022. Summary Back in 2011, Paweł Fajdek finished 11th and last in the final. Since then, the results have been the same, Paweł Fajdek World Champion. He was back for another spin. In the first round, Rudy Winkler was the first to throw over 78 with a 78.91m. Quentin Bigot threw 79.52m to take the lead and Bence Halász was in second with 79.12m. Seven throwers were over 77 metres while Fajdek only managed 74.71m to find himself in a non-qualifying 9th place. The European Athletics Team Championships (European Team Championships until 2013), is an international athletics competition organised by European Athletics, between different countries of Europe, over 4 leagues. It replaced in 2009 the former and similar European Cup (1965-2008). Unlike most international competitions, medals are not awarded to individuals in individual events but to the overall winning team on a points system. 2016 European Athletics Championships
The 2016 European Athletics Championships was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, between 6 and 10 July 2016. It was the first time the Netherlands hosted the event. Due to 2016 being an Olympic year, there was no racewalking and the marathon competition was replaced by half marathon. The Russian team did not participate due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations. However, Yuliya Stepanova was individually cleared by the IAAF to compete as an independent athlete; she participated in the European championships under the flag of the European Athletic Association. The 2018 European Athletics Championships were held in Berlin, Germany, from 6 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in the United Kingdom. 2019 World Athletics Championships
The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships () was the seventeenth edition of the biennial, global athletics competition organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), since renamed World Athletics. The men's hammer throw at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics is being held at the Olympic Stadium on 9 and 11 August. Summary The final started with Aleksei Sokirskiy (ANA)'s 76.22 m early leader. Wojciech Nowicki (POL) slightly improved upon that to 77.36 m but the next thrower Quentin Bigot (FRA) hit the first round leader 77.05 m on the next throw.
