Artemios "Demis" Ventouris-Roussos ( ; el, Αρτέμιος "Ντέμης" Βεντούρης-Ρούσσος, ; 15 June 1946 – 25 January 2015) was a Greek singer, songwriter and musician. As a band member he is best remembered for his work in the progressive rock music act Aphrodite's Child, but as a vocal soloist, his repertoire included hit songs like "Goodbye, My Love, Goodbye", " From Souvenirs to Souvenirs" and " Forever and Ever". Roussos sold over 60 million albums worldwide and became "an unlikely kaftan-wearing sex symbol". Early life Roussos was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, in a Greek family. John Barry Mason (12 July 1935 – 16 April 2021) was an English singer and songwriter. A leading songwriter of the 1960s, he wrote the bulk of his most successful songs in partnership with Les Reed. Mason gained many gold and platinum awards for his work including five Ivor Novello Awards, the most recent of them in 1998. Life and career Mason was born in Wigan, eldest son of Phyllis née Hart, and journalist, Cecil Mason, who died when Barry was nine. Stylianós Vlavianós ( el, Στυλιανός Βλαβιανός), often called Stélios Vlavianós, (born 7 July 1947) is a Greek composer, musical arranger, a member of the Sacem and the SACD, among others. Biography Vlavianós was born in Athens. His musical apprenticeship began at the age of 3 with his father Stefanos Vlavianos, a musician with the Athens Radio Orchestra (trombonist) and an eclectic theorist. At the age of 10, he entered the Greek National Conservatory in Maria Hatjopoulou's piano class. He was later a student with French composer Pierre Petit, then director of the École Normale de Musique de Paris. The master taught him counterpoint, fugue, harmony, composition, orchestration for more than a dozen years before dying prematurely. In the 1970s, he composed songs for artists such as Demis Roussos, Shirley Bassey, Engelbert Humperdinck, and Al Martino. Born in Astakos, Greece, Leandros left in the 1950s for Germany to pursue a career in singing and Musical composition, composing. He had some success, but shifted his focus to his daughter, Vicky Leandros, Vicky, who had been singing from a very early age. He became her manager, composer and producer when she was 13, and is responsible for her unique training and career.
