Wartime Information Security Program
The Wartime Information Security Program (abbreviated WISP) was a Cold War-era group that would have been responsible for censorship in the aftermath of a nuclear war. In such a situation, emergency powers would grant this group of eight officials authority over all United States media and all other communications that entered or left the country. The members of WISP and their support staff would take refuge and operate out of a specially-constructed bunker in the basement of a building at McDaniel College (then known as Western Maryland College) in Westminster, Maryland. The original location was in Thompson Hall, at the time the infirmary. It was later relocated to Lewis Hall, a science building, where it remained until the government relinquished its several-thousand-square-foot space back to the college around 1990. The group was originally created as the United States Office of Censorship under President Dwight David Eisenhower, but was later renamed to avoid negative connotat ...

WISP (particle Physics)
In particle physics, the acronym WISP refers to a largely hypothetical weakly interacting sub-eV particle, or ''weakly interacting ''slender'' particle'', or ''weakly interacting ''slim'' particle'' – low-mass particles which rarely interact with conventional particles. The term is used to generally categorize a type of dark matter candidate, and is essentially synonymous with '' axion-like particle'' (ALP). With the exception of “active” neutrinos, all WISPs are hypothetical particles. WISPs are the low-mass counterpart of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). Discussion Except for conventional, active neutrinos, all WISPs are candidate dark matter constituents, and many proposed experiments to detect WISPs might possibly be able to detect several different kinds. “WISP” is most often used to refer to a low-mass hypothetical particles which are viable dark matter candidates. Examples include: * Axion – long standing hypothetical strong force related light pa ...

WISP1
WNT1-inducible-signaling pathway protein 1 (WISP-1), also known as CCN4, is a matricellular protein that in humans is encoded by the ''WISP1'' gene. Structure WISP-1 is highly homologous to CYR61 (CCN1) and CTGF (CCN2), and is a member of the CCN family of secreted, extracellular matrix (ECM)-associated signaling proteins ( CCN intercellular signaling protein). The CCN family of proteins shares a common molecular protein structure, characterized by an N-terminal secretory signal peptide followed by four distinct domains with homologies to insulin-like growth factor binding protein ( IGFBP), von Willebrand type C repeats ( vWC), thrombospondin type 1 repeat (TSR), and a cysteine knot motif within the C-terminal (CT) domain. This family of proteins regulates diverse cellular functions, including cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Role in bone development WISP-1 promotes mesenchymal cell proliferation and osteoblastic differentiation ...

WISP2
WNT1-inducible-signaling pathway protein 2, or WISP-2 (also named CCN5) is a matricellular protein that in humans is encoded by the ''WISP2'' gene. Function The CCN family of proteins regulates diverse cellular functions, including cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, differentiation. Structure WISP-2 is a member of the CCN family (CCN intercellular signaling protein) of secreted, extracellular matrix (ECM)-associated signaling matricellular proteins. The CCN acronym is derived from the first three members of the family identified, namely CYR61 (CCN1), CTGF (connective tissue growth factor, or CCN2), and NOV. These proteins, together with WISP1/CCN4, WISP2 (CCN5, this gene), and WISP3 (CCN6) comprise the six-member CCN family in vertebrates. CCN proteins characteristically contain an N-terminal secretory signal peptide followed by four structurally distinct domains with homologies to insulin-like growth factor binding protein ( IGFBP), von Willebrand type C repeats ( ...

WISP3
WNT1-inducible-signaling pathway protein 3 (WISP3, also named CCN6) is a matricellular protein that in humans is encoded by the ''WISP3'' gene. Structure It is a member of the CCN family ( CCN intercellular signaling protein) of secreted, extracellular matrix (ECM)-associated signaling matricellular proteins. The CCN acronym is derived from the first three members of the family identified, namely CYR61 (cysteine-rich angiogenic inducer 61, or CCN1), CTGF (connective tissue growth factor, or CCN2), and NOV (nephroblastoma overexpressed, or CCN3). These proteins, together with WISP1 WNT1-inducible-signaling pathway protein 1 (WISP-1), also known as CCN4, is a matricellular protein that in humans is encoded by the ''WISP1'' gene. Wireless Internet Service Provider
A wireless Internet service provider (WISP) is an Internet service provider with a network based on wireless networking. Technology may include commonplace Wi-Fi wireless mesh networking, or proprietary equipment designed to operate over open 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, 4.9, 5, 24, and 60 GHz bands or licensed frequencies in the UHF band (including the MMDS frequency band), LMDS, and other bands from 6 GHz to 80 GHz. In the US, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released Report and Order, FCC 05-56 in 2005 that revised the FCC’s rules to open the 3650 MHz band for terrestrial wireless broadband operations. On November 14, 2007 the Commission released Public Notice (DA 07-4605) in which the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau announced the start date for licensing and registration process for the 3650-3700 MHz band. As of July 2015, there are over 2,000 fixed wireless broadband providers operating in the US, servicing nearly 4 million customers. History Ini ...

The books follow the protagonists Richard Cypher, Kahlan Amnell, Nicci, Cara, and Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander on their quest to defeat oppressors who seek to control the world and those who wish to unleash evil upon the world of the living. While each novel was written to stand alone, except for the final three that were intended to be a trilogy, they follow a common timeline and are linked by ongoing events that occur throughout the series. The series began in 1994 with '' Wizard's First Rule'' and Goodkind wrote eighteen more novels in addition to a novella titled '' Debt of Bones''. The latest novel in the series, ''Heart of Black Ice'', was released in 2020. As of 2008, 25 million copies of the series' books have been sold worldwide, and the series has been translated into more than 20 languages. Wisp (Sonic)
The '' Sonic the Hedgehog'' video game franchise began in 1991 with the game '' Sonic the Hedgehog'' for the Sega Genesis, which pitted a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog named Sonic against a rotund male human villain named Doctor Eggman (or Doctor Ivo Robotnik). The sequel, ''Sonic 2'', gave Sonic a fox friend named Tails. ''Sonic CD'' introduced Amy Rose, a female hedgehog with a persistent crush on Sonic. '' Sonic 3'' introduced Knuckles the Echidna, Sonic's rival and, later, friend. All five of these have remained major characters and appeared in dozens of games. The series has introduced dozens of additional recurring characters over the years. These have ranged from anthropomorphic animal characters like Shadow the Hedgehog and Cream the Rabbit to robots created by Eggman like Metal Sonic and E-123 Omega, as well as human characters like Eggman's grandfather Gerald Robotnik. The series features three fictional species: Chao, which have usually functioned as digital pe ...
