Wish You Were Here (American TV Series)
''Wish You Were Here'' is an American sitcom that was premiered on July 20, 1990, as a summer replacement on CBS in the 9:30pm slot which lasted for only six episodes. Its premise was that a stockbroker, Donny Cogswell, portrayed by Lew Schneider, quits his job and sends video cassette postcards of his European adventures to family and friends back in the United States. Lew Schneider
Lew Schneider (born July 18, 1961) is an American television producer, writer, director, actor and comedian. Career In the fall of 1989, Schneider landed his first regular TV job as the host of the Nickelodeon game show, ''Make the Grade''. He hosted the show until 1990. His stand-up act was featured on HBO's ''One Night Stand'' in 1992 and in guest appearances on Comedy Central's ''Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist''. He starred in two TV sitcoms, ''Wish You Were Here'' (1990) and ''Down the Shore'' (1992–93). Schneider appeared as Marty in the 2004 film comedy '' Seeing Other People''. Schneider began writing for television in 1993. His credits include ''The George Wendt Show'', ''The John Larroquette Show'', and ''The Naked Truth''. Hendersonville, North Carolina
Hendersonville is a city in Henderson County, North Carolina, United States. It is south of Asheville and is the county seat of Henderson County. Like the county, the city is named for 19th-century North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Leonard Henderson. The population was 13,137 at the 2010 census and was estimated in 2019 to be 14,157. Introduction Prior to the Treaty of Hopewell, the land that now is occupied by Hendersonville was settled by Cherokee tribes. Following this treaty, white settlers entered the region, eventually taking the land of what is now Henderson County in full from the original inhabitants. Poor trade links still restricted economic and demographic growth in the region, until the development of the Buncombe Turnpike, completed in 1827. Carole Ruth Hart (April 30, 1943 – January 5, 2018) was an American writer and television producer who was involved in the inception of ''Sesame Street'' and other projects on broadcast television targeted at children. Biography Born Carole Ruth Strickler in Paterson, New Jersey on April 30, 1943, she graduated from Barnard College in 1965, where she majored in philosophy. She married Bruce Hart in 1963, while she was a student in college. She and her husband were at a party where they spoke with a producer who had an idea for a new television program designed to help children develop reading and writing skills. Hart and her husband were hired to develop material for what became ''Sesame Street''. Her husband wrote the theme song, while she wrote some early episodes. Hart produced '' Free to Be...
