Wiseblood was an American electronic/noise-rock band formed by Clint Ruin (a.k.a. J. G. Thirlwell) and Roli Mosimann, existing intermittently from 1985 through the early 1990s. In Ruin's words, Wiseblood was "violent macho American usicmade by non-Americans". The duo's material tended toward the realm of the darkest and most sexual Foetus (band), Foetus songs, with Mosimann's Swans lineage showing in the slow, crushing pacing of many tracks. ''Wiseblood'' is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Corrosion of Conformity. It was released on October 15, 1996 by Columbia Records, the band's second and final album for the label. Its name comes from the novel ''Wise Blood'', written by Southern Gothic author Flannery O'Connor. Metallica's lead vocalist James Hetfield provides backing vocals on "Man or Ash". The song "Drowning in a Daydream" was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 40th Grammy Awards ceremony (which went to Tool for "Ænema"). The album had sold 130,000 copies by 1999, selling less than '' Blind'' and ''Deliverance.'' The novel was assembled from disparate stories first published in ''Mademoiselle (magazine), Mademoiselle'', ''Sewanee Review'' and ''Partisan Review''. The first chapter is an expanded version of her Master's thesis, "The Train", and other chapters are reworked versions of "The Peeler," "The Heart of the Park" and "Enoch and the Gorilla". The novel concerns a returning World War II veteran who, haunted by a life-long crisis of faith, resolves to form an antireligion, anti-religious ministry in an eccentric, fictionalized Southern city after finding his family homestead abandoned without a trace. ''Wise Blood'' is a 1979 black-comedy drama film directed by John Huston and starring Brad Dourif, Dan Shor, Amy Wright, Harry Dean Stanton, and Ned Beatty. Wise Blood (musician)
Wise Blood is the stage name of producer, performer, and songwriter Chris Laufman. He has released two albums, three EP's, and a mixtape. His work is largely sample-based and electronic. Career 2010–2013: early career and ''Id'' Chris Laufman released his first project as Wise Blood, +, in 2010. A video for the song "B.I.G. E.G.O." premiered later that year featuring Daphne Guinness. Following the reception of his debut EP he was the subject of a ''Pitchfork'' profile which focused on his unique approach to songwriting. Laufman would subsequently release another Wise Blood EP, ''These Wings'', in 2011 along with the single "Loud Mouths". In support of the release he performed at SXSW and played in-studio at BBC Radio 1.
